Sophie felt like Cinderella. Well, a rather clumsy, tunic-wearing, blushing Cinderella. She couldn't believe that she was both late to dinner, and walking down a grand staircase. Biana was the epitiome of grace, seeming to glide down the staircase. Sophie tried to mimic her friend's elegant way of walking.
Della, Alden, Keefe, and Fitz were already at dinner, and getting their food. As soon as the Vacker parents saw the two girls, they smiled, and got Fitz and Keefe's attention. Keefe and Fitz figeted, and blushed. What was it with them blushing lately? Sophie must be rubbing off on them, poor guys. Della and Alden glanced at each other, and seemed to be stopping themselves from bursting out laughing. Probably because Fitz and Keefe's jaws were touching the floor. Biana must really look extra amazing.
Still, Sophie blushed, and it did not have something to do with a certain teal-eyed boy in the room. Nope. Definently not. She realized she was just standing there, and she quickly followed Biana down the staircase.
"Hello, girls!" Della said, smiling. "Help yourselves."
So far, everything about the Vackers was perfect. This was no exception, and Sophie didn't know how to say it other than; The Vackers knew how to eat!
About ten dishes, most of which Sophie had no idea what they were, sat on a buffet-style counter, with salivating aromas wafting in every direction. Sophie thought that the meal was compete, until she saw Edaline's signature mallowmelt. Sophie let out an internal sigh. Mallowmelt. . . Sophie figuredEdaline must have shared her special recipe with the members of her baking group(Sophie swore Della, Juline and Edaline had a club for everything), because Della had clearly whipped some up. There on the counter, sat a giant platter of it, in all it's caramely, chocolaty, mouth watering glory.
As people got their food, Biana casually reached up and pushed Sophie's gaping jaw back up, and into place. Clearly Sophie had been caught oggling the amazing dessert. Biana giggled, and Sophie had to join her. In her deffense, anyone who didn't salivate over mallowmelt, was absolutley off their rocker.
Sophie and Biana filled their plates with delicious foods that Sophie could not wait to eat. Sophie also scooped a pretty good chunk of mallowmelt for herself, and Keefe smirked. Sophie planted a hand on her hip.
"What?" She glared.
Keefe's grin got wider. "Nothing. . . Just that I admire a girl who can eat." He winked at this last part.
Sophie blushed, still glaring. "Well maybe you haven't tasted mallowmelt."
Keefe smirked. "You're right, you're right." Uncharactaristically, he smiled without humor. "Mommy Dearest isn't excactly the "Loving, Baking Mallowmelt" type." Although Keefe smiled, Sophie could see some slight sadness in his eyes.
Sophie was slightly surprised. She hadn't known Keefe for a very long time, but it had seemed wierd that he hadn't mentioned his parents. Sophie didn't really know what to say.
