"Are you good with staying with the Vackers?" Edaline asked through the phone. Sophie had called her mom at lunch, to ask if it was okay to go over to the Vackers house (she could hardly believe it herself), and her mom had agreed. Edaline had then surprised Sophie, by saying that her and Grady were going to have to go out of town unexpectedly to tend to a wounded animal, so Sophie had to find somewhere to sleep. Since she was already going to the Vacker's house anyways, Edaline had asked if she would be okay sleeping at their place(Della was in Edaline's "mom book group" so they knew each other pretty well).

Sophie almost said she'd rather sleep at Kesler and Juline's house, but she decided that this was her opportunity to get to know Biana. "Yeah, I'm okay with that!" Sophie responded, although the idea of it made her slightly nervous.

Edaline sounded rushed, and a little stressed, as she responded. "Okay, great hon. Call if you need anything, I really have to go. Bye. Love you."

"Love you too, Mom." Sophie hung up and walked nervously up to Biana's table. About ten beautiful, popular,  girls stared up at her. Suddenly Sophie regretted wearing a dull grey outfit. "Uh, hey Biana." she said nervously. Biana looked away, uncomfortable. Sophie continued, "Can I talk to you?" Sophie didn't have to ask twice. Biana hopped up and pulled Sophie away as if eager to be out of her friends' hearing range. And I thought she wasn't embarrassed about me anymore. Sophie thought, mentally scoffing.

Sophie explained the whole situation to Biana, from the wounded animal, to her needing a place to stay while her parents were away. "So,  is it all right if I stay?" Sophie asked, anxious about Biana's answer.

Biana looked surprised. "You want to have a sleepover with me?" she asked, her eyes laced with excitement. "Ooooh! We could-- Um, I mean, yes if you need a place to stay." She said, as if correcting her own tone. She smoothed her already wrinkle-free shirt, and stood. "Meet me in the front of the school." she said, suddenly all buisness-like again.

Sophie smiled and nodded. I do not get that girl. Sophie thought, shaking her head. Sophie headed to her next class, and she found herself actually getting really excited for the end of the day.

                                                . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Sophie breathed in relief. Finally. She thought. I never thought that a school day could feel so. . .so. . agonizingly long. She laughed at her own mental whining as she scanned the crowd of students for Biana. She had  said to meet her outside, right? Finally Sophie heard a clear voice call out,

"Sophie!" Biana was walking over. "Let's go. Woltzer is here." When Sophie smiled, Biana seemed to stiffen. Sophie had to walk quickly to keep up with Biana's brisk pace and Oh. My. A limo pulled up and parked at the curb. It was sleek, black, and polished to a shine. A thin looking man, probably in his forties, manned the front seat. He was wearing a tux, and his dark hair was combed with gel, so that not a stray hair fell out of place, unlike Sophie's hair. Oblivious to Sophie's gaping jaw, Biana just waved to the driver, Woltzer, as if everything was perfectly normal.

Sophie opened the door to hop in the limo, but the edge of her shoe got caught in the line of the sidewalk. She sprawled right through the limo's open door, and into Keefe's arms. Sophie looked up in total embarrassment, to see that Fitz was in the car too. Fitz looked at Keefe's arm around her, and he seemed to frown. Biana did the same. They were probably embarrassed to be seen with someone so clumsy. Sophie hastily pushed his arms away and Keefe grinned.
