Clarion was standing at the border. She looked back into the autumn woods and back towards winter. Without giving another thought she put on her coat and crossed. As soon as the cold hit her skin she felt like the first time she crossed. Only this time it wasn't for a joyous occasion.
Clarion had to clue where Milori would be or if he got hurt. Clarion was walking through the trees when she heard some fairies talking. Normally she found it absolutely rude to listen into a conversation but this one was important.
"I can't believe Lord Milori saved that fairies life!"
"Me too! I can't believe he used magic to stop the avalanche from getting her!"
"I wonder if Lord Milori is well, I heard the keeper order him to not leave the library all day. That is until he was rested."
"I'm sure he is fine. Maybe just tired?"Clarion stopped listening into the conversation and flew to the keepers. She was just outside the door when she stopped herself from opening it. "By the second star what are you doing!? Milori probably moved on. We just broke the rule we created. I have to make sure he is alright though...." Clarion was thinking 1000 thoughts a second.
Clarion finally pushed open the door and walked in. She didn't want to get caught by Dewey so she walked behind some books. "Milori, imma be going to find a book over there. Don't be runnin' off when I go, It'll be dangerous," Dewey informed Milori as he flew to the other side of the giant library.
Milori was about to run off when Clarion stepped out from behind the book and sarcastically said, "Running off so soon?" Milori stopped dead in his tracks as he looked at her. Milori walked up and hugged her. Clarion smiled brightly. She missed him so much.
"You're okay!" Clarion and Milori both blurted at the same time. Milori smiled sheepishly as Clarion lightly blushed. "What the bloody hell are you doing here?" Milori whispered as he grabbed Clarions arm and pulled her to a small closet. "I needed to make sure you were fine and not trapped under some pile of snow!" Clarion whisper screamed back.
Milori tried to not laugh and smile. "Stop that. Why are you making that face?!" Clarion whispered. "Nothing! It's just sweet luv," Milori smiled. Clarion missed getting called "Luv and My Luv," so much by Milori. She never fully realized. Clarion looked up at him and pushed one loose strand of hair that was always in the way out of his face.
Clarion felt light headed again. Milori noticed and he picked her up. "Milori! Put me down!" "Not a chance Luv. You are clearly going to pass out any moment. I didn't know being with me made you swoon that much." Clarion rolled her eyes and put her head onto Milori's chest.
"Where are we going?"
"Shh. Dewey is right across there!"
"Alright, at least use the word please."
"Please your royal highness shush."
"That's more like it. Thank you"
"What happened to you?"
"Nothing. I'm fine."
"Mhm"(Sorry i just couldn't resist making that shape)
Milori walked through a hallway and opened a secret door. When they walked in there was a bookshelf (not surprising) a desk with papers, and a couch on the side of the room. He walked over and sat Clarion on the couch who just kept staring at him. "What happened over there? And don't say everything's fine. It clearly isn't," Milori asked Clarion as he walked into a closet a pulled out a blanket.
"An earthquake. One fairies leg- Thank you," Clarion smiled as he handed her it. Milori sat next to her and looked directly at her while she continued. "As i was saying, a fairies leg got caught under a fallen branch. I had to heal her leg with 6 droplets of dust. That's why I was somewhat unbalanced." Milori remembered Clarion would never call herself weak even if she was.
"So let me get this straight, you saved a fairies life. And risked your own? Wow. That's astonishing but not surprising," Milori told her smiling. Clarion smiled and asked, "What happened here?" Milori rubbed the back of his neck.
"Long story, short, there was an avalanche while we were at the bottom of a mountain. The fairy who was unable to get away fast enough was going to get covered in snow and not make it out of there. So i used a bit of magic to make a shield. The fairies fine now," Milori explained like it was no big deal. "Milori! That's amazing! You saved their life!" Clarion smiled as she hugged him.
When she pulled away her arm were still around his neck and they kept eye contact. Milori leaned in and so did Clarion.
Clarion sat up fast in her bed. She looked around the room and was confused as to what was going on. "Did i dream it all?" Clarion thought to herself as she stood up. She was planing on walking to her balcony but almost fainted.
Clarion sat back in bed as Remedy walked in. "Oh good your up!" Remedy smiled. "Rem, what happened?" Clarion asked drowsily. "Well, after you got mad at me for not allowing you to fly. You came to your room. When I came to check in on you, you were passed out on your chair," Remedy explained as she walked towards Clarion.
"I could have sworn it wasn't a dream...." Clarion mumbled under her breath. "What was that?"
"Nothing. I was just saying thank you for taking care of me. It was a good thing you didn't allow me to fly," Clarion complimented. "It was in your best interest your highness. Also, I thought you would want to be informed NO ONE, was injured in the Winter woods. Lord Milori had a close call. He is perfectly fine I am told," Remedy informed Clarion smiling."Thank you, that helps settle a few of my worries."
"Queen Clarion, I will be back tomorrow morning to check in on you, please don't fly or leave. It's sunset, you slept the day away."Clarion watched Remedy fly out. As soon as she did Viola flew in. "Your majesty, a letter from the winter woods," Viola bowed respectfully and flew off. Clarion immediately opened the letter. It read:
Dear Clarion,
No fairies were injured. We almost had a close call. A few winter baskets are destroyed. We will need 20 more baskets on very very short notice. EVERY fairy is good.
-Milori
p.s. I had the strangest dream and you were in it.Clarion had a smile on her face as she read it. She started to write back to Milori.
Dear Milori,
That's very good to know. I really appreciate getting informed. We had a close call also....
No need to worry! Every fairy is fine. Some more than others. The baskets shouldn't be a problem. It might take a bit longer, considering all the things destroyed.
-Clarion
p.s. I had a strange dream about you also.Clarion finished the letter and had Viola send it over. She missed Milori terribly but she had to focus on her fairies and Pixie hallow. She couldn't get distracted with her love life drama. Clarion flew to her desk and started her mountain of paperwork for all the things destroyed. Secretly hoping at any moment she got a note from him.
