bro thank you. Cat was never intended to be a villain, in any way. I didn't just bring Cat into the book for any old reason. Cat is also being used for Annie's character development as well. I want to establish that things that upset this character, are other people's good traits. Why do you think she has bulimia? She was jealous of Barrett and Elle's good bodies. What's the main source of her anxiety? She doesn't feel good compared to the cast, who are obviously model like figures. She isn't just jealous of Cat because she is the center of attention, she's jealous of Cat's bubbly personality. She hasn't see the dark and broken side of Cat yet, making her wish she could be as bright spirited as her. Annie is thinking that maybe if she were that happy all of the time, the cast would be as obsessed with her as they are Cat. All of these insecurities don't really have to do much with the abuse, mostly because her dad only hit her, maybe called her a few names drunkenly. Maybe I'm trying to show that your own mind can be more abusing than your abuser. Kinda deep, lol.

Hope you enjoy!

Warnings: lots of fluff, also insecurities and what not.

Also I was thinking about putting Annie in dance, because it's something that I'm passionate about, but I have seen so many ABH books do it, that I'm most like I gonna scratch the plan :(

Annabeth's Pov
It was the end of the day, and I was walking out of school while talking to Nia. I was about to push open the glass door to exit the building, when I feel someone jump on my back. I let out a small squeal, while I hear Nia and another female voice giggle behind me.

"Surprise!" Cat says excitedly, from on my back.

"Quite the entrance, huh?" I said jokingly, softly sliding her off of my back.

I turned to face me, and I saw her beaming. "Guess what, Annie?"

"What is it?" I asked, putting my backpack on my back, which had fallen off when Cat jumped on me.

"I'm staying with you after school, because Elle is
running a few errands with Jessica." Cat jumped up and down excitedly.

"Oh, okay. Guess this will be our first time spending quality time with one another, I guess." I said, while finally pushing the glass door open, holding it open for  Nia and Cat.

"Yep, I'm SuPEr excited! Barrett is gonna pick me up with you." Cat giggled.

"Speaking of Barrett, I see her car. See you tomorrow, Nia." I waved to Nia, while I walked to Barrett's car. Cat was following right behind me, and I could hear her giggling softly to herself. I couldn't help but smile at my soon to be little sister. lol you guys are only a few months apart, Annie.

I opened the door to Barrett's car, and yelled shotgun, just so Cat knew. I sat in the front seat, while Cat got into the back. Barrett was gripping the wheel tightly, her knuckles turning white. Something must have been wrong, but I didn't dare ask. If she wanted to tell me, she would have done so by now.

Cat kept telling me stupid knock knock jokes, while I watched Barrett. Knuckles were white, and her eyes didn't focus anywhere but on the road, but she obviously wasn't thinking of the traffic. With one hand on the wheel, she was tugging softly at her white skirt, which had different patterns. Remember when Barrett and Ryan performed Seventeen on live tv? Both Barrett and Ryan were having an off day. Yeah, that one. I'm picturing her wearing the same outfit she was wearing at that performance.

I laughed softly from time to time, just so Cat knew I was listening slightly. I heard every word she said, but I wasn't really processing her words. Like when you are listening to a math lecture. You hear the words, but you aren't really truly listening.

I was focused on Barrett, who hadn't said a single word, and we were already almost home.

Time skip

Barrett sighed, and handed me the keys to her apartment.

"Alright, I need to stay in here and make a phone call  with Alice. You two have fun, okay?" Barrett pursed her lips, while adjusting herself in her seat to be more comfortable. I blinked in confusion, and so did Cat.

"Okay, love you." I said, while slowly getting out. Cat too jumped out of the car.

"Love you." Barrett sighs.

I slowly walked to the door of her apartment, with Cat was right beside me. I opened the door with the key, and opened the door wider so Cat could walk in. I closed the door, and locked it. I sat her keys on the table.

Cat took a deep breath, and her playful grin slowly faded away.

"Could I talk to you?" Cat asked, her voice shaking.

"Sure?" I asked, slightly confused.

We walked to my bedroom, and took a seat on my bed. She sat on the end, while I tossed a stress ball up in the air, catching it over and over again.

"So, what's up?" I asked, still playing with my stress ball.

"Uh.." Cat started, but immediately started sobbing. She covered her face with her hands.

"Woah, woah, woah, what's going on?" I asked, slowly making my way beside her.

"I- I feel like I'm just being compared to the cast. I mean, they are all such talented Broadway stars, and I'm like...nothing." She said, still crying.

"I- I'm sorry. I don't have much advice. You just have to find confidence, I guess. Everyone's different. They had to work to be that amazing. Everyone has potential, you just need to work hard to let it show." I said awkwardly, rubbing my arm with the self harm scars.

Cat sniffled and wiped a few tears, then walked up and pulled me into a tight hug. She cried into my shoulder, and I just awkwardly patted her back. I've never had to support someone else like this. At my dad's house, I was taking care of myself.

We sat back down, and I asked if she wanted to play a game. She nodded, and I pulled a game out from under my bed, in hopes to cheer her up. It was Bop It. This game was my entire childhood, and apparently it was Cat's too, because she gasped and squealed when I pulled it out.

We took turns, and we both couldn't stop giggling. Cat had just stopped crying, and her eyes were red and puffy. We were having so much fun, making stupid remarks when one another messed up. It was just about to be my turn, when Barrett came into the room.

"Hey Cat, Elle is gonna come pick you up. Annabeth, I need to talk to you." Barrett said, her eyes also red from crying. I wondered what was going on. Cat gave me a brief hug, and walked out the door. I heard Elle say hi to Cat, and they walked out the door.

"So what's going on?" I said, for the second time today.

"Annie, I have terrible news."
