Diamond's POV
I kept twisting and turning and I just couldn't get some sleep. I think I'm starting to regret throwing coke all over that girl at the drive-in.
I looked at the clock next to my bed. 9:19. Perfect.
I was gonna go downstairs and get something to drink but I went against it for two reasons. 1) I didn't need to get drunk before bed. 2) I didn't feel like running into Dallas because I know he's downstairs right now.
I got up and decided to just get a glass of water from my bathroom. I stood up feeling drowsy. I rubbed my forehead and walked over to my bathroom.
I turned on the lights and my heart stopped. Someone was sitting in the corner of my bathroom...
I let out a blood curdling screech and the guy in the corner of the bathroom stood up, swearing his head off.
I slammed the bathroom door shut and ran out into my bedroom and out into the hallway. I slammed the door out into the hallway and tried to calm myself down.
I backed up waiting for the person to come out of my room but I backed up into somebody. I let out another scream and covered my face with my hands thinking this person was gonna hit me.
"Woah! Calm down! What the hell is going on?"
It was Dallas. "I- There- I-" I couldn't stop stuttering.
"Ok. Calm down. What's going on?"
"There is-" I was cut off by the sound of glass shattering in my bedroom. I corrected myself. "There was someone in my bathroom."
"Wait, you mean to tell me someone climbed up to your window and snuck in?"
"I don't know!"
"I already locked the doors."
It sounded like he didn't believe me. "IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE THEY DID BECAUSE A WINDOW IN MY BEDROOM OR BATHROOM JUST SHATTERED!" I yelled.
"Ok. Calm down. It's ok."
Just then, we heard these two screams from outside. "Wait, was that- Ponyboy and Johnny?" I asked.
Dallas thought for a second and looked back at me. "Shit..." He mumbled.
We both started to run down the stairs
"Hurry up!" He said.
"I'm going as fast as I can!" I replied.
We got to the front of the building and I almost slipped on the floors because I was wearing socks. Dallas unlocked the door quickly and as soon as we turned the corner, we ran into Ponyboy and Johnny.
"What are you guys doing here?" Dallas asked.
"Diamond, someone's looking for you."
I raised an eyebrow. "What are you talking about."
"Some guy came up to us on our way back to my house and he asked where you were and he said we'd have to spend up to 5 years in prison if we didn't tell you because it was interfering with a federal investigation or something." Ponyboy said quickly.
Shit. I was about to get mad at them for telling this guy where I was but I guess I don't blame them. I wouldn't wanna go to jail either.
"Why'd you guys scream?" Dallas asked.
"Because as we were walking down here trying to get here before him, glass shattered and this creepy guy in black climbed out of the window down a ladder and he had a gun."
My eyes widened. "Where did he run?"
"We aren't sure. He ran around the back but he was wearing black so we couldn't see too well." Johnny said.
"Alright. Just get inside. I'll figure this out."
"HANDS UP! ALL OF YOU!" Someone yelled.
We all looked around and I saw someone holding a gun up about 50 feet away from us. It was dark so it was hard to see who he was.
"Guys..." I mumbled putting my hands up. "Guys." I repeated a bit louder.
They looked where I was looking and they saw what I was seeing.
"Shit..." Dallas mumbled.
"You all better keep your mouth shut about this. Alex Holtz, I'll be back."
"Wait, do I know you?" I asked as he got closer.
He clicked the gun to prove to us it was loaded.
"SHUT UP!" Dallas, Ponyboy, and Johnny yelled.
"Ok, ok." I mumbled.
"Stay quiet. You've been warned." He said. And he ran away.
"Get inside." I said pushing everyone in. "Now." I scolded.
After they got inside the building, I slammed the door shut and locked it.
"I'm calling the police." Dallas said.
"NO!" I yelled.
They all looked at me. "Why not?" Dallas asked picking up the phone.
"I can figure this out! Ok? Just please don't call them. I don't wanna go back to New York."
"Then just leave some of those parts out." Johnny said.
"That's jail time. Lying to an officer?"
"Not lying. Just excluding."
"I'd have to say what that guy out there said and he said 'Alex Holtz' and saying that he said 'Diamond Ross' is illegal and can make things worse for all of us. I can figure this out if you just put the phone down." I said looking at Dallas.
He sighed and put it down. "Your brothers are gonna kill me." Dallas said to Ponyboy with an eye roll.
"I'll drive you guys home if you don't call the police. Got it?"
Johnny and Ponyboy looked at each other. "Fine. But hurry up." Ponyboy said.
I grabbed the keys from behind the bar and we went out the back way. We got into a car and they both got into the front. I drove as fast as I could without being capable of getting pulled over.
We pulled up to the Curtis' house and I didn't get out of the car. "Get inside. Don't tell Darry. I'll handle this, ok?"
They nodded. "Hurry up." I said.
I drove back to Buck's and I know I told everyone I'd handle this but I had no idea how I was gonna do that. The guy looked familiar but I had no idea from where. I don't know that many people.
I got back to Buck's and I quickly went inside.
"You've gotta turn yourself in." Dallas said to me as soon as I walked in the door.
