John's POV
"Warren Holtz?" Ryder asked.
"Yes. Who else would it be, dumbass?"
I could hear Ryder groan through the phone. "What do you want?"
"Did you see the news?"
"Look, old man. I haven't talked to you or Alex in years. I did what you asked and I pretended you died. Alex didn't care."
"I'm aware. But do you know where she is?" I asked.
"At the mansion."
"Did you see the news?" I asked with an eye roll.
He laughed. "I don't watch that garbage."
"Well, the mafia got caught. And Alex wasn't apart of that group. She's slowly been killing off everyone and getting rid of them for this little stunt because she wants to get away."
"I don't blame her." Ryder mumbled.
"What was that?" I scolded.
"Nothing." He said quickly.
"Anyway, I need you and your connections to find her."
"And what if I don't?"
"I know everything about you. I know your dad, I know where you live, and I can make you my slave."
He sighed. "I'll find out where she is by tomorrow."
"Good."
I had to turn myself in if it meant getting Diamond out of hiding.
I walked down to the police station the next morning and asked for the police officer dealing with the mafia.
"Do you have any information about it?" The receptionist asked.
"Yes. I can tell you a lot."
She raised an eyebrow and gave me a skeptical look. "Please give me a minute." She said. I nodded.
The receptionist came back with an officer and he asked me to step into a room. I followed.
"For security purposes, you need to go through a pat down and I need you to state your name."
I put my hands up and a guard checked to make sure I had no weapons. "John Ross." I stated.
The guard nodded and the officer told me to take a seat. "This conversation is being recorded and is to be replayed. Go ahead." He said.
"I'm John Ross, but most people know me as Warren Holtz. I'm the old leader of the New York City Mafia and I know who Alex Holtz is. She was my daughter. I took her under my wing since she was 4 and when she was 14, almost 15, I told her she was to get married when she turned 18 to a guy named Ryder Hall. He agreed with it and she was mad about it. I faked my death the next day and went into hiding. She took over and she slowly killed off the entire mafia if they did something wrong or disrespected her. James, her body guard, is my dad and he hit his head a long time ago so he doesn't remember what I did for a living. He blindly did what Diamond asked him to do. He's a tough guy." I was cut off.
"Who's Diamond?" The officer asked.
"It's Alex's real name. Alex Holtz is a fake name. My fake name was Warren Holtz and my wife's fake name was Jamie Holtz. But our real names are John Ross, my wife was Jewel Ross, and Alex Holtz is Diamond Ross."
"Where is your wife now?"
"When I faked my death, Jewel unfortunately did actually die in the process."
"So you killed her?"
"Well, yes."
"Alright. Where is Diamond now?"
"I'm working on finding her. Ryder Hall's dad works for a secretive service in Chicago and is working on finding her."
"Is the secret service for the government?"
"Some parts of it are. I'm not 100% sure whether Ryder's dad works for the government or independently."
"You do know that you turned yourself in, right?" I nodded. "Alright. That's enough for now. We're gonna have to turn you in for now."
"Alright. Can I call Ryder really quickly?"
"Yes. Do you know the number?" I nodded.
He guided me to a phone and I dialed the number. "Hello?" Ryder asked.
"It's Warren. Did you find out yet?"
He sighed. "No. It's gonna take a lot longer than I thought."
"Dammit." I mumbled.
"Where are you?"
"I'm at the police station."
"Why?"
"I turned myself in."
"What the hell? For what?"
"So I can make sure Alex won't get away with this."
He sighed. "So what number should I use to call you when I find out?"
"Just call the New York City police department. They'll guide you to me."
"Alright. I'll let you know when I find out."
I hung up and the officer put me in handcuffs.
I worked too hard for her to mess this up for me. Diamond Ross, you are not getting away with this.
Diamond's POV
I woke up and I had a few more things to get. I definitely needed more shoes and clothes. And probably a few more candles since the ones I got yesterday were cheap and already ran out.
I put on a new outfit and it was something I'd normally wear. I wear tight tops and tight pants with a jacket sometimes depending on the weather. And I wasn't about to change that.
I looked at the clock. It was 11:30. I went to bed really late last night because I was busy cleaning so it didn't surprise me.
I went downstairs and Dallas was cleaning up. He looked at me for a split second and then back down. I just avoided all eye contact with him.
I went downtown and I needed more shoes and outfits. I'm kinda short so I wear heels all the time. But after a long day of shopping around, I think I finally had enough outfits. Well, as much as the normal person would have.
I went back home and I was kinda nervous because it was a Friday night and I feel like Buck is gonna make me work. I've never really worked a day in my life. Well, kinda.
But most importantly, this means facing Dallas again. And something told me I needed to be careful around him.
