Diamond's POV
"You're kidding, right?" I asked.
"What?" He asked. He was generally confused.
"I didn't kill my parents! They were in a car accident!" I yelled.
"It's fine. I believe you. It was just a question."
"People really thought I killed them?" I asked.
"Mhmm..." He said drowsily.
After thinking about it all, it did make sense and it did fit the time line. I mean, they sell my life away to some stranger, I get mad, and then they die. It did look bad. "Look, I know it seems like I did, but it was all coincidental. I would never kill my parents. Especially not my mom."
"Diamond. I believe you. I was just wondering." He said looking at me.
I sighed with a grin. "Just because you do doesn't mean everyone will. The entire world is against me right now."
"Well, not the entire world. I'm sure some people don't know who you are. They can't be against you without knowing who you are. And you're starting to grow on Johnny and Ponyboy I think."
"That's not the same. They'd rat me out in a second."
He thought for a second. "Well, I'm on your side. Ok?"
I couldn't help but give him a small smile as he pulled me closer. It wasn't long before I fell asleep.
I must have been really tired after last night because even though I fell asleep a little after one, I didn't wake up till 10:30.
"Morning." Dallas said groggily. He pushed my hair off my forehead and kissed it. I was barely able to get anything out and it came out as a small groan.
A few minutes went by and we both got dressed. And I didn't see Dallas for the rest of the day. He seemed like he was eager to get outta there.
I've definitely been played.
God dammit. Fuck you, Dallas.
I went downstairs around midnight after a long day of doing nothing. I went around and I replaced my window early today. Then I got ready and just sat around. But I got hungry so I went to see if we had anything in the fridge.
"Hey." Someone said coming up behind me. I recognized the voice. It was Dallas. I rolled my eyes almost like it was a habit at this point. "Did I do something, Doll?" He asked with a grin.
"Are you serious?" I asked dumbly. He raised an eyebrow. "Just, fuck off." I said with a fake smile.
He groaned. "What did I do?" He asked following me.
"I don't wanna be some side chick." I said with a fake laugh.
"Side chick?" He asked laughing.
"Yeah!" I said trying to laugh it off. "You only did it to get information outta me and then you stormed off the next morning." I said crossing my arms.
"That's not true." He said leaning against the wall.
"How?"
"Well, that's just how it seems to be. It's not like that, I swear!" He said.
"I don't believe it." I said starting to walk away.
"I'll prove it." He said with that stupid cocky grin he always does.
"How?" I asked still leaning against the wall.
"Round 2?" He asked.
I thought for a second. "Dammit..." I mumbled with a grin.
And... here's the second thing I'm gonna leave unsaid.
"Asshole." I mumbled looking at the clock. 3:54 AM.
"How?" Dallas asked.
I almost laughed. "We hated each other before this. We never liked each other. Did we?"
"I didn't hate you. I just really disliked you." He said.
I gave him a small glare. "That's the same thing." I mumbled rubbing my eyes.
"How am I gonna prove this?" He asked. "I believed everything you said last night, did I not?"
"How do I not know you're lying?" I asked.
He sighed. "You don't. But you don't have to believe me. I guess I can't do anything. Whatever, Diamond."
I almost felt bad. Hell, I did feel bad. But there was nothing I could do about it. But I just didn't wanna be here anymore. I waited about an hour and I got dressed and went back to my room. I made sure I was really quiet so I didn't wake Dallas up.
But I didn't wanna be played with. And I don't know if I trust Dallas. I've known him for almost 10 years now and I know the type of person he is. He knows the person I am! I don't know if he believes me or not.
About a million thoughts were running through my head right now. I couldn't even process any of it. I just wanted to go to bed.
I didn't wake up till 11:00 and I was so tired. I took a shower and got ready for the day to go on. I wasn't really ready to face Dallas but I also didn't wanna sit inside my bedroom anymore. I can't avoid him forever.
Well... maybe I can.
But I won't.
I went downstairs and Dallas was counting money. He didn't even look up before he said anything. "I just wanna point out that you're the one who thinks I'm playing you but you're also the one to walk out."
"Look, you aren't thinking long term." I said awkwardly and unsure of what to say.
"You are leagally guaranteed a trial if you claim you're innocent. And from what I've heard, you seem to be innocent enough. Get a good lawyer and do your thing. It's not easy but it's possible."
"I can't afford a good lawyer." I said crossing my arms.
"Are you serious? You were the richest girl in New York."
"Emphesis on the word 'were.' That money is stolen. I can't use that."
"Well, you have some money. Get what you can get. Tell them everything. It's not impossible." He said finishing counting and then pushing the cash register back into its spot.
"I won't have any time to prepare for anything. And the entire world hates me. This isn't gonna be easy."
"I never said it would be. But I meant it when I said I was on your side. So don't say the entire world hates you. And stop thinking negatively on Ponyboy and Johnny. They like you now and so does everyone else. It's better to think positive than negative."
"I won't get hurt if I think negatively. I think negatively, I'm either right or I get a nice surprise."
He sighed and I could tell he was annoyed with me. "Thinking negatively isn't gonna get you anywhere because if you expect the worst, you won't try to get something better."
I raised an eyebrow. "You really did your research here."
"I mean, you keep asking me if I'm really into you or just want to hookup. I'm trying to prove it."
I grinned. "Tell me the truth. Right now. What are your real intentions?"
