The morning light was blinding my eyes and I complained covering them with my hand, but that time someone was knocking the door.
"Draco?" my mum got inside.
"Yes?" I said with my eyes closed, exhaling.
"Today it's the day, Emily Black will come in a few hours. We need you downstairs" she said and I felt my stomach dropping realizing what day it is.
"Okay, give me a few minutes" I said and she nodded before leaving.
The day has come, Emily will become a Death Eater. Dark Lord himself will give her the Death Mark in my house.
I didn't want this to happen. I have tried to convince her to not do it but she doesn't even want to talk about it anymore. When I asked my mum if there is another way, she was sad and said that, "We only do what the Dark Lord wants".But Emily, she is so strong. She is not so afraid as she should be. I think she is scared about what will happen after the Mark and not with the fact that she will come face to face with Voldermort and she will put her in so much physical and mental pain.
"Where is dad?" I asked downstairs and my mum sighed.
"Business" she just said and I nodded. I knew what that means, not need to ask more.
"Please, eat your lunch" she said and I sighed, "I am not hungry".
"Draco, you haven't eaten all week. Please" she said and I saw the plate with chicken and potatoes on it, making my stomach growl.
We sat across each other on the table and started eating our food.
"How is she?" she asked after a while.
I looked at her confused and then she continued, "Emily, how is she?".
"I can see that you care a lot about this girl" she said and I nodded.
"Yes, she is amazing" I just said and I could see her hiding a smile.
"Mum stop smiling" I said annoyed but then she was giggling. Her laugh made me to start laughing too, but we heard noise from outside.
"Sh, your father has come. Eat" her whole personality changed and without answering I continued eating.
She stood up putting some warm food in his plate and the door opened.
"Narcissa, why are you doing this? That's the elves job!" he said and came near her.
"It's okay, Lucious. They are just busy with the garden" she said and he exhaled angry.
"It's okay. Please sit" my mum continued and he sat next to my mum.
"So, Draco" he said and I looked at him.
"This girl, the mud blood", he said and I felt my blood boiling.
"Don't call her like that" I hissed and my mum turned surprised towards us.
"Anyway, will she be good enough to serve the Dark Lord?" he asked and I tried to calm down my nerves.
"More than enough", I said and he nodded not keeping the conversation alive.
[...]
"Draco, the time has come" my mum said at my door and I nodded. I was sad and she could see that. She looked behind her and closed the door sitting on my bed next to him.
"I am sorry Draco" she said and I nodded.
"Listen, I can realize she is a very strong girl and a brilliant witch. Why else the Dark Lord would have chosen a muggle born?" she said putting her hand on my shoulder.
"Listen to me, she will feel so bad the first days and maybe try to push you away. Do not let her son" she emphasized her words looking me straight into my eyes.
"Do not let her Draco. Be there for her, take care of her, even when she doesn't want anyone. It will destroy her being alone, do you understand?" she said and I nodded.
"Ye-yes. I understand" I said and she nodded pulling my hand to stand up.
"Let's go downstairs, the Dark Lord is already here" she whispered the last words and I gasped surprised.
The door's bell rang, meaning that Emily was outside. My dad went to open the door with me and my mum standing behind him. My mum touched my shoulder and she smiled weak at me, meaning that everything is going to be okay.
"Emily Black, I believe" my dad said and I saw her after almost three weeks.
"Hello Mr Malfoy" she said shy and my dad stepped aside to let her in.
"Hello, Emily" my mum said and she nodded at her smiling.
"Nice to meet you" Emily answered kind and when her eyes met mine, I felt the whole room collapsing around us.
"Can we have some time alone first?" I asked not breaking the eye connection.
"Only five minutes" my mum whispered and her and my dad left.
"Draco.." she said after we were alone and fell into my arms. I put my hands around her body, pulling her closer.
"Everything is going to be okay" I whispered at her ear and she shook her head.
When she pulled back, I kissed her lips and I realized how much I've missed her.
"Please don't cry" her eyes watering were breaking my heart.
"It's okay, I am just tensed" she said smiling a little and I nodded.
"It's time, Emily" my mum told from the stairs and we nodded.
"Come with me" she begged and I took her hand.
We got at the basement's aisle which was full of different rooms.
"The Dark Lord is there, waiting for you" I said caressing her shoulders and pecked her head.
"Good luck, Emily" I said and she sighed.
"I think I need it" she said and I snorted.
"Wait", I said after she took a few steps away, "What?".
"I love you" I said after a few seconds and she gasped not expecting it. Her face changed, and a little smile appeared on her face.
"I love you, Draco" she said back and I felt my stomach fluttering.
She turned around and started walking slowly at the big door. She stood outside hesitating to open it, but she did it after a few seconds and entered in. I ran towards the door and pressed my ear on it, hoping to hear anything.
Nothing, not a single word. Not even voices.
I sat on the floor, with my back against the wooden door, waiting.
It's been two hours and still nothing. Not even a sound or a signal that someone was inside that room. I remembered how it happened with me at summer and I felt my body shivering. It lasted almost three hours, the worst day of my life.
After almost twenty minutes someone tried to open the door from inside and I stood up taking a few steps back.
