I tried my best to comfort Suna though I could tell it wasn't as effective as I had hoped. She had a look about her. One of either concern, anxiousness, or embarrassment. Maybe a little of everything.
"If you need to rest go ahead," I said trying to reassure her.
"No, I'm okay," she said looking down.
"How long do you sleep each night?" I asked directly.
". . . Oh a few hours," she replied locking down.
"Suna how many hours did you sleep the day before? Numbers please."
"About three or four, . . . I think."
"Is it because of the nightmares?"
"Yeah and sometimes I just can't sleep."
"I see."
These kids shouldn't be here. I felt an anger rise up in my gut, and I felt a strong urge to deck Rin Maurus and anyone else who created this nightmarish game.
"How's Mani doing?"
"Well he's awake."
"Alright, does he mind if I talk to him."
Suna shook her head.
"Alright."
I began to walk up toward Mani who was sitting with his knees to his chest.
"Hey Mani," I waved to him to catch his attention, "how you feeling?"
Mani looked up at me.
