If I Was Your Man (BWS)

Fifteen

*Brad P.O.V*

I led Maddie to the door to the studio.

"Okay, you ready? You go first." I told her, and she opened the door nervously.

She gasped when she walked in. "This is so cute!" She said. "I love it!"

Connor said she'd love it. I smiled.

"Glad you like it." I said, closing the door so it was just me and her.

Once she'd admired the room, I steered her over to sit in front of the laptop, the place we sat the other week when we played her the new album.

"Now here's the moment you've been waiting for." I said, and she smiled looking right into my eyes, fully engaged in what I was saying. "So we - well, I - wrote a song, and it's going on the extra tracks album. I finalised that with management this morning." I explained. "So, you see, a few months ago I fell for this girl I know. Recently I wrote a song about her but didn't tell anyone. However, recent events changed things, so decided to come clean with the song and show my band members."

Maddie smiled, and leant forward a bit, wanting to hear more.

"The girls name is Maddie Evelyn Ball. Ever heard of her?" I asked.

"Nope, I'm afraid not." Maddie said, and we both laughed.

"Okay, here's the song." I said, "it's called If I Was Your Man."

She looked down, smiling at the name. When the song started, she looked back up at me.

I smiled, watching her reaction. The lyrics 'something in your mind has changed, and you're wondering about you and me' she nodded, giving me a look.

"I set your darkest nights alight. You asked me about that." She said. "I didn't know it was lyrics for a song about me."

"I asked you what lyric you preferred for a song about you, how classy." I laughed.

When the song ended, Maddie looked at me with wide eyes.

"Brad, omg I- that was amazing. I don't know... you actually wrote that about me?" She asked, in shock.

"Hope you don't mind." I said.

"No, I love it!" She said.

"I've liked you for months, and I had to hide it somehow. Writing that song was like a release, kind of. If I Was Your Man sounded like the perfect title cuz that's how I feel about us. I, always thinking if this, if that. If we were together. I know there isn't another man in your life in this way, but I didn't want to make it so obvious to the whole world when they hear the song that it was about you." I paused for a moment, calming my nerves. "Maddie." I said, taking hold of both her hands with mine and looking her right in the eye. "I would really like to put a label on us. I want you to be my girlfriend."

"I'd like that." She said, and broke out into a massive smile.

The nerves inside of me got pushed aside and replaced with joy. I smiled more than I have in a while. I stood up, pulling her into me and hugging her.

Now I get teased for my height by a lot of people, but something else good about me and Maddie - she's 5ft 4, so is quite a bit shorter than me.

She lifted her head back so she was looking up at me, but still hugging me. "You have no clue how long I've wanted to hear you say that." She said.

"You have no clue how long I've been waiting to say that." I replied.

She moved her face towards mine, placing her hand on my neck. I placed my hands either side of her waist as her lips met mine.

This kiss was different to the first. It was filled with a mixture of love and lust, clearly built up between us both for quite a while.

It was perfect.

Maddie took hold of my hand as we walked to the front door of Con's house. Neither of us had stopped smiling and laughing the whole time, everything had just suddenly slotted together and I could already see it working perfectly between us.

"Hello!" I heard Con say over enthusiastically as soon as we stepped inside.

"Hey!" Me and Maddie called back, and Maddie laughed.

We walked together into the living room to face the others - Luce and Kirstie were now there too.

"Oh my god." Luce said.

"Yes!" Con said, jumping up and coming to give us both a hug.

Tris got up and moved so there was enough space for me and Maddie to sit down together.

"You look so cute together already." Luce said.

I smiled and Maddie looked down, giggling. If anything, she's probably overwhelmed and shy about everything at the moment.

Maddie pulled her phone out her pocket like she'd forgotten something. She unlocked it, typing something in furiously.

"I'll be back in two seconds." She said, getting up.

"Are you going to call Reece?" Con asked.

"No."

"Yes you are." He said.

"No I'm not!" She said, leaving the room.

"Wait for it..." Con said.

"Reece, you'll never believe me!" We all heard her exclaim as she ran up the stairs.

We all laughed, Connor smiling at me.

"Congrats man!" James and Tris said.

"Knew she would say yes." Con said, smiling. "I've sensed something was going on between you two for a few weeks."

"And we both thought we hid it really well." I said, shaking my head in disbelief.
