If I Was Your Man (BWS)

Seventeen

*Brad P.O.V*

"Want another drink?" Maddie asked, sitting up.

"Yeah, I'll come with you." I said. I stood with her and followed her into the kitchen.

"What would you like?" Maddie asked, grabbing the lemonade and orange juice from the kitchen.

"I'll have the same as you." I said.

"Sure?" Maddie asked, putting the bottles on the side and turning to face me.

"Of course." I smiled, moving to put my hands around her waist and pulling her in for a hug. Maddie giggled, hugging me back. I never pictured myself being so utterly crazy about someone so quickly, and now here I am.

"I like being short for once in my life." Maddie said, making me laugh.

"Well you make me feel tall, which is a good thing." I said.

"We work well then." Maddie said, smiling at me. "Right, I'm making the drinks."

I let go of her so she could turn around, but as soon as she'd grabbed two glasses, I wrapped my arms around her waist and rested my head on her shoulder. It was so much easier to be like this when we were alone. It's going to take me a while to get used to being like this around Connor - and Tris and James, thinking about it.

She leaned back against me as she asked how much I wanted. I smiled again, kissing her shoulder as I replied.

I sat chatting to Luce about her day at work - it had sounded quite stressful.

She'd got home at 9:30, just before Maddie fell asleep. Mads was lied with her head in my lap, quiet as anything. Con was due home any minute, so once he was back I was going to depart and go home.

"Do you ever think about doing a different job?" I asked, playing with a strand of Maddie's hair.

"Yeah, I've considered it. I just don't know if I definitely want to change jobs. I also can't be at home 24/7, I need to go to work or else I go insane." Luce said.

"Yeah, I get you. I mean, with our job it's a 24/7 thing." I said. "Have you ever considered doing something like Maddie? As in, for the band? It might not be your style but the photography, helping on tour, filming stuff, etc?" I suggested. "It does mean you'd have to follow us round on tour though."

"Maybe... Although I haven't done photography and film in college like Maddie did so I wouldn't be as good." Luce laughed.

"You'd be surprised." I said.

A car pulled up outside and we heard a door slam. The front door opened, the sound of keys being placed on the windowsill inside, and then Con appeared.

"Hey." He said.

"Hey." Me and Luce said, and he went over to give Luce a kiss. He sat beside her and looked over at me and Maddie.

"How long's she been asleep?" He asked, nodding to Maddie.

"She fell asleep just after I got home, so roughly 20 minutes, maybe a bit longer?" Luce said.

"Oh, you didn't bore her to death then Brad." Con joked, making us laugh.

"No, I didn't surprisingly." I said. "I'm gonna make a move in a minute seeing as she's fallen asleep."

Con and Luce exchanged a look, before looking back at me. "You're welcome to stay, you know that right?" Con said.

I paused for a second, wondering if I heard him right. I mean I know his sister is now my girlfriend but I didn't expect him to let me stay over just yet. I thought me and Maddie would have to warm him up to that.

"Well- I-"

Con laughed. "It's okay, I know that's a shock but yes you're welcome to stay anytime you want, we're fine with that." Con said.

"Well thank you." I said.

"Yeah, the sofas are pretty comfortable to sleep on so." Connor joked.

I laughed. "I won't stay tonight, I don't have anything here and Maddie's already asleep, she won't miss me."

"I will miss you." Maddie said quietly, startling me.

"I thought you were asleep." I said.

"I literally just woke at the comment Con made about the sofas. Don't worry, I won't make you sleep on a sofa." Maddie said, turning her head around so she was lying faced upwards so she could see me.

"Morning, the love of your life is going to leave you, how do you feel?" Con said.

"I might've just woke but I'm not afraid to kick your ass." Maddie said.

"Yeah, you threaten me all the time but you wouldn't do anything." Con said, smirking.

"Shut up." Maddie said, and she yawned.

"Okay, I'm gonna go so you can get to bed." I said, and Maddie sat up.

"Okay, message me when you get home, yeah?" She asked.

"Will do. You'll be asleep by then anyway." I laughed, and I stood up.

She held her hands out for me to pull her up. I grabbed hold and pulled her up off the sofa.

"Right, see you in the morning." Maddie said.

"Night." Con and Luce said. "See you Brad."

"Bye!" I said, and me and Maddie walked out into the hallway. "I'll see you tomorrow maybe?"

"Yeah, I'm going to Reece's in the morning, but I'll meet you after. Want me to come to yours?" Maddie asked.

"Yeah, if you want to." I said.

"Of course." Maddie smiled. I placed my hand on her cheek and gave her a quick kiss.

"Sleep well beautiful, see you tomorrow." I said, making Maddie smile.

"Goodnight, see you tomorrow." She said, and I turned around to leave.
