If I Was Your Man (BWS)

Sixty-One

*Maddie P.O.V*

"I'm so glad you're getting better." Mum's voice echoed down the phone. "I'm sorry I couldn't be there for you."

"Hey, mum, don't worry about it. It's fine. The distance is crazy, I would've never expected you to travel down to me. Besides, I've got Brad here with me. And Con's been helpful too, looking after me, although I haven't been back home to his house since the incident. Today will be the first day I go back there." I said, and Brad gave me a reassuring smile.

We were sat in his room, on his bed. I was lied down with my head on him, and he was sat upright, playing with a strand of my hair and just listening. Today was the first day I'd got up and properly got ready - showered, dressed, moving about. Today was the day I would go home again.

"You're so brave, Maddie, honestly. It'll be okay, once you're in the house and you've been into your room again, you'll soon ease back into being there." Mum said.

"Thank you mum." I said.

"Anyway, I want to know how things are going with you and Brad. Anything to share? I've seen your social media's, YouTube videos etc. You two look really happy together."

I caught Brad's eye and smiled. "Things are going great actually, yeah, thank you. He's been the sweetest since the incident, he's literally been beside me day and night, bar a few days where he needed to do something with the other lads, but apart from that he's been here at all times, taking care of me. I honestly owe him the world for it."

Brad smiled, "you don't owe me anything." He said.

"Wait, is that Brad?" Mum asked, a hint of excitement in her voice.

"No, it's bloody Ron Weasley, who else would it be mum?" I laughed.

"Put me on loudspeaker, I wanna say hi." Mum said, and I placed her onto loudspeaker.

"There you go mother." I said.

"Hi Brad! How are you?" She asked.

"I'm good thanks, how are you?" Brad said, and I smiled. I love hearing him talking to my family, because he already knows them so well through Connor and they all loved him anyway.

"I'm good thank you! Thank you for looking after my Maddie for me, you're a gem." Mum said.

"You're very welcome, anytime." Brad said, smiling.

"I didn't even realise you were there with Maddie at the moment." Mum laughed. "Okay lovelies, I'll leave you both to it. Good luck going home Mads, you'll be okay. Love you!"

"Love you, bye!" I said, and Brad said bye so I could hang up.

*Brad P.O.V*

I stopped the car in front of Con's house and looked over at Maddie. She was staring forward at the house. I could tell she was nervous to go inside, which is fair enough. She's still struggling to get over what happened, it still scares her now.

"Ready?" I asked, reaching out and taking hold of her hand. She tore her eyes from the house in front of her and took a deep breath. She nodded.

"Let's go." She said, and we both got out.

I went to the back of the car and grabbed her bag out for her, and then walked over to her. I took hold of her hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze before leading her up to the front door. She opened it and walked in.

Connor walked out of the living room to meet us. All the damage done to the house - the breaking in point and everything - was all sorted out so the house looked back to normal. Hopefully that helps Maddie to settle back in well.

We also had a bit of a surprise for Maddie upstairs from all four of us lads. She had no clue what was about to hit her when she walked up there.

"Hey Maddie." Connor said, coming over and giving her a big hug. "I've missed you."

"Hey Con, I've missed you too." Maddie said.

"How are you feeling?" Connor asked.

"In terms of my head, I'm alright. Not completely back to normal, but I'm getting there. In terms of returning here, I'm nervous but I should be fine." Maddie said. "It's not as bad being here than I anticipated. If anything, my room will be the problem."

"Well, talking about your room..." Connor said, and he smiled at me. I smiled back, and he continued. "Me and the other three lads decided to do something for you whilst you were over at Brad's."

"What do you mean?" Maddie asked.

"Just... come with us." Con said, and he lead us both upstairs.

"You know how a couple of times this week Brad has said he had to come and do important stuff with the band?" Connor asked, and Maddie nodded. "Well, he was actually here helping me, James and Tris."

"What..." Maddie said.

Connor walked right past Maddie's room.

"Con, my room is here." Maddie said.

"Not anymore." Con said, and he went round to the spare room. "Maddie, go into your new room."

Maddie's expression changed and she took a few steps towards the door and threw it open without hesitation. She instantly stepped in, and looked around. We'd tried to keep her layout similar to her old room, because we weren't sure how she would like it.

On her bed, was a load of new stuff we had brought her. We had brought lots of 5SOS things for her she didn't own yet, and a lot more posters for her walls etc. Also, lots of her editing equipment had been damaged/broken during the break in, so we'd brought her a high tech camera and an apple Macbook.

Me and the lads had spent the last week doing this for her- moving everything from the spare room to Maddie's room, and everything from Maddie's room to the spare room. The logic behind it? Maddie doesn't have to go into that old room ever again if she doesn't want to.

"Oh my god- you all did this? What the hell- wait is this mine?!" She asked, pointing to the bed. "The four of you did this all for me?! Omg, new 5SOS merch. And a macbook and new camera? Wait, this camera is really great but expensive, I'd seen this before!"

"Guess you like it then?" I asked, and she gasped.

"Yes!" Maddie said, and she ran to us both and gave us the biggest hug each.

I smiled, seeing how her mood had changed from anxious and scared to happy and excited. The normal Maddie was shining through for the first time since the incident.
