"You were one hell of a waste of skin, Iris"
It felt as if the world had stopped spinning and everything was just flying around Luke at a thousand miles per hour.
It was Iris.
His Iris.
The emotions deluging over him were indescribably horrifying, twisted and...depressing.
Luke whipped his head around when he began to hear small whimpers and screams.
It couldn't.
He couldn't.
His eyes began to water at the possibilities of what was happening to Iris.
His Iris.
Luke was the only one there to stop it yet he wasn't ready to face the facts.
He didn't want to.
He liked the idea of Iris being happy and joyful. Living a great life with great parents and a great house.
Luke knew he was miserable but multiply that by a hundred and that's probably how Iris was.
Luke couldn't accept that because he wouldn't want anyone to have to undergo that kind of suffering.
Luke had to face the facts.
And the fact was that there is no happy endings.
Fairy-tales were called tales for a reason.
Luke snapped out of his thoughts once he heard a blustering bang come from the house.
"You're such a bitch," He heard the dad yell, along with a another bang.
"You think I want to do this? Because, I don't. But, you deserve this, Iris. You fucking deserve it."
Luke looked through the window just in time to see the fathers hand hit against Iris's cheek.
As the tears slipped down his face, Luke pulled out his phone, feeling as if he needed a picture, for evidence, or incase the cops couldn't get here in time. Or maybe, he just needed something so he would know this wasn't just a horrible nightmare, it was normal reality.
Snapping a picture, Luke then called the police, his words barely coherent, as he was also crying his eyes out.
"911. What's the address of the emergency?"
As Luke gave all the information he leaned against the wall, waiting for the police to come.
The tears seemed to do a lot more than fall down his face. The tears seemed to close his throat and deafen his ears and blur his vision.
The tears seemed to shut down his mind and stop his heart.
The tears seemed as if they were killing Luke.
Or maybe, he was just killing himself. Because, he knew he could run in there himself and try to save Iris.
But he was a coward.
Luke wasn't a magnificent knight that could save the day or a prince that could make you his princess.
He was just Luke.
And that wasn't enough.
It never was and never will be.
Luke looked up and his blurry eyes could just barely see the dark truck pulling out of the driveway and racing out of the neighborhood.
Luke picked himself up off the ground and opened his mouth to yell at the man.
Stop, you bastard, come back.
