this chapter is dedicated to stylescoffeeshop because if she didn't comment for an update I doubt there would even be one, but seriously thank you😂💗

Becoming mute wasn't as difficult as it seemed.

For Iris, all she had to do was not talk and nobody really cared.

At first, people just assumed she had a sore throat and let it pass.

But then days turned into weeks and weeks into months.

People started to notice.

They started to ask questions and making demands that couldn't be answered with the shake of a head.

How are you feeling today, Iris?

Read this section aloud, Iris.

What's the answer to this equation, Iris?

It came to the point where she just gave people a look and they would get the point.

In the end, people just gave up.

Some still try every once in a while, but most just don't care at all.

But why should they? Why would they even bother?

Iris tightened her grip on Luke's hand as she saw the policewoman walk up to them.

"We have your father, and we're going to try to get a confession out of him, sweetheart, it'll be much easier if we get a confession because court cases, in this scenario, are very common and easy to get out of. While we do have the pictures, they could easily be something different from what we see or photoshopped," The cop said, with a look of sorrow on her face.

"That's bullshit," Luke scoffed, pulling Iris closer to him.

"Sir, we're trying our hardest."

"Well, your hardest isn't good enough," Luke muttered, wrapping his arms around Iris's waist and pulling her close enough so her back was pressed to his stomach.

"Iris, we were just thinking that maybe if your father had something or someone in the room that could hit his emotions deeper, it would bring out the guilt and he would confess," The police suggested.

"You want her to fucking go in there? Are you fucking insane?" Luke asked, trying his hardest to not yell.

Iris squeezed Luke's hand and looked up at him, giving him a nod of reassurance.

"Only for a little bit, you can even watch from behind the wall so you can get an idea of what he's saying," The cop said, placing a hand on Iris's shoulder, "you don't have to if you don't want to though, we aren't pressuring you."

Iris gave her a small smile and nodded.

She was going to do it.

It was the only way.

The woman walked Luke and Iris over to a room in the back where Iris could see her father with another man who was asking him questions.

"Why would you do this to your daughter? Your daughter. That's a pretty twisted thing don't you think?" Iris heard the man ask, giving her dad a look.

"Those are fake, I wasn't even home at the time," Her dad shrugged, not even glancing down at the pictures.

"Really?"

"Yes, and that boy who took those should be in here, not me, that's an invasion of property, sneaking around someones house to take pictures and edit them, disgusting," Her father said, shaking his head.
