Soaking wet from head to toe, Jennie and Jungkook took shelter under a bus stop.
"Damn this rain, honestly," Jennie growled while fishing around for a hair tie. "How are we going to find her at this point?"
Jungkook sighed. He didn't know either. They had immediately made their way to the subway, where they interrogated various shop owners there, until one told them she had seen her mount one line. With no other choice, they got on and after three hours of searching each stop, they still hadn't seen a single glimpse of her. It was probably around four in the morning, the sky was pitch black, and they couldn't use their phones for flashlights because of the heavy rain pouring down from the sky. A few cars occasionally passed by, they were on the outskirts of Seoul leading towards the countryside.
"We're not getting anywhere, let's stay here till the sky clears up."
Jennie knew there was no other option but her heart still felt heavy at Jungkook's suggestion. She was worried for Lisa and couldn't help but feel as if she had let her down somehow and needed to make up for it.
She sat down on the cold metal bench, and promptly felt Jungkook sitting down next to her. She kept her eyes open, she couldn't sleep with Lisa on her mind.
After a few minutes of listening to the rain in silence, Jennie spoke up softly.
"Jungkook, have I been a bad sister to her?"
He didn't answer immediately and she felt like crying. Jungkook must have sensed this because he spoke quietly.
"No. You wanted her to be happy."
"And I hurt her. She still blames herself."
"I hurt her too, and I regret it," Jungkook swallowed harshly and paused for a while. "We both made mistakes, Jen. That doesn't mean we don't love her."
Jennie turned to glance at him but obviously couldn't see his expression clearly.
"Finally admitting it?"
"Yeah. I always have."
A trace of a smile appeared on Jennie's face.
"I know."
...
Jennie blinked drowsily. A bright light met her face, and she shielded her eyes with her hand. It had to be around midday. Her back hurt badly from her sleeping position, so she stretched slightly while looking at her surroundings. Jungkook was still sleeping soundly next to her.
Jennie stood up to take off her wet jacket and froze.
It couldn't be...
"Lisa?"
The maknae smiled at her, while she just stood there with her mouth slightly open.
It was her. Lisa was laying down right behind Jungkook, on the waiting bench opposite to the one where she and Jungkook had spent the night in.
"I've been here since last night."
Jennie ran to wrap her up in a hug, which the younger girl returned warmly.
"I was surprised to find you here, you don't usually-"
"It was Kook's idea. You know I usually want to give you your space, but I've been a bad unnie. I'm so sorry Lili."
"There's nothing to be sorry about, unnie. You've done everything you could for me."
Jennie pulled away a little and fixed her younger sister's hair.
"I can't believe you've been right next to us this whole time."
Lisa giggled.
"Are you okay?" Jennie continued, looking slightly concerned.
"Now I am." Lisa smiled genuinely, a smile Jennie hadn't seen in ages. She felt herself get a little teary. Her Lisa was happy again.
Jungkook was beginning to stir. Hugging Lisa quickly, Jennie mumbled something about calling the group and walked away, taking her phone with her.
Lisa sat down beside him, wondering if he was still angry with her. But would he have come all the way to find her if he was?
He looked peaceful as he slept. She watched him until his hooded eyes opened slowly and he blinked drowsily. He stared at her for a second, as if wondering if he was dreaming, and she mustered a nervous smile.
"I'm here."
"Lisa," he whispered, pulling her into his embrace. He was about to open his mouth to apologize when she spoke up, her voice muffled in his chest.
"I'm so sorry."
"What? Lisa, I'm sorry," Jungkook stroked her hair gently. "I love you so much."
Lisa's breath hitched, and he kept talking.
"I'm sorry for not showing you, I was so scared. But I should have told you even if you didn't return the feelings."
"You're so precious to me, please realize that." Jungkook kept muttering sweet words to her. "Please don't leave, forgive me for being immature. You're everything I've ever wanted, and more."
It felt as if an enormous weight had been taken from her chest. Suddenly, everything seemed brighter.
Jungkook loved her. Her, Lalisa Manoban. It was finally out, no longer hidden in longing stares or painful arguments. He had said it to her, and with those words he had made her world ten times brighter. The past didn't matter anymore, all that mattered was that she was in his arms and Lisa knew for sure that she belonged there.
"I missed you," she mumbled, feeling his heartbeat quicken. She smiled. "And I- I love you too. Nothing will ever change that."
He kissed her forehead.
"You're alright, aren't you? You're not hurt or anything?"
She wiped off her teary eyes and finally looked up at him. His hair was disheveled, his clothes were still wet, and he had heavy eye bags.
"I'm fine. You look like a wreck."
He smiled and cupped her face before leaning down and claiming her lips with his own.
After a few moments, they pulled apart and he brought her back into his embrace, telling her how much he loved her once again.
Lisa smiled.
She knew. She had heard everything last night.
...
I cringed way too many times while typing this.
I was thinking of writing a longer chapter but I also felt like ending it there. Next chapter will be up quickly!!
