As Jeongin got out of bed and started walking to the door, he felt his phone vibrate in his hands and, quickly glancing at the caller id, he immediately answered it.
"Hyung? I'm almost at the door-"
"Before you open the door, I just want you to brace yourself," Hyunjin instructed, Jeongin faintly hearing his voice from the other side of the door. "I-I'm not really good at expressing myself or my feelings so I just want you to keep that in mind."
Jeongin furrowed his eyebrows slightly, wondering why on earth Hyunjin would ever say such a thing to him since he felt that it was completely out of the blue.
That day was like every other day - they woke up early to eat breakfast together, watched a few movies on the television since they both didn't have any schedules on that day and after, they went for a slow walk through the neighbourhood, fingers intertwined with each others' as they watched the sun slowly set on another normal day.
Everything had been the same.
When they reached home, Hyunjin hurriedly said that he had to get something and although Jeongin wanted to follow, the older of the two didn't let him and insisted he rested at home to which Jeongin complied with since a small part of him did want to laze around and do absolutely nothing.
Nothing felt out of the ordinary.
"Why are you telling me that so suddenly hyung?" Jeongin asked, his hand on the door handle. He heard a sigh from the other side and the ending note of the call. "Hyung-"
Flowers.
The first thing that greeted him instead of Hyunjin was a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a myriad of colours that still seemed vibrant despite the dimly lit hallway to Hyunjin's apartment, an assortment of flora so carefully arranged together that Jeongin felt his heart beating faster at the sight.
And just before he could ask why he had brought a bouquet for him, Hyunjin lowered the bouquet which he had been holding with one hand to reveal his face and in his other palm sat a delicate silver band, a single diamond elegantly placed on the top of it.
"I-I'm not asking you to marry me now but...Oh god I practiced this before but now my mind is drawing a blank...Wait, don't cry Innie!" Jeongin wrapped his arms around Hyunjin, hiding his now tear-stained face in his boyfriend's chest as Hyunjin instinctively responded by hugging the boy back despite both his hands being occupied in that moment. "I-I don't know what I did in my past life to deserve you," Hyunjin whispered, lowering his head so that it rested gently on Jeongin's shoulder. "W-We don't need to get married now or anything since it's only been a few months of us dating but I just wanted to give you a ring because I-" He placed a quick kiss on Jeongin's forehead before pressing their foreheads together, eyes meeting the others'. "-I just wanted you to know that now that I found you again, I will never let you go. And, I guess this is also my way of apologising for being needlessly angry with you when we first met again - I really am just plain horrible at expressing the way I feel so I'm really sorry about that-"
"I love you hyung," Jeongin whispered, slightly tightening his embrace on Hyunjin as if telling him that he would never let him go despite whatever lies ahead of them in the future. "I love you so, so much."
"I love you so, so much too Innie," Hyunjin replied, a smile tugging at his lips as he slid the ring onto Jeongins' finger, all his fears and worries dissipating as he held his entire universe in his arms.
