You suddenly got a call from your older sister saying that you had a family dinner planned today and that your attendance was mandatory as your grandparents were going to be there.
So here you were dressed up and arriving at the front gates of your grandparents large apartment complex.
They owned one of the largest gaming companies in the world and your parents were able to successfully take over soon afterwards which always gave you and your sister comfort as you lived in luxury for the majority of your life.
Your parents always prepared you to be able to take over the company one day, but you knew in your heart that that's not where you wanted to go into, opting to choose your own path in nursing to their disapproval.
You didn't really care. They had your older sister if they were really that desperate for an heir. You didn't need their money anyway. Through your own hard work, you were able to get into a good school with enough scholarships that paid for your tuition and more.
You didn't realize it, but you had a certain resentment towards your parents and that only started to become more noticeable as you made your way in the apartment, getting past all the security.
"Y/n my darling granddaughter! How are you?" Your grandma asked you as you stepped in and walked around the party.
It was nothing too extravagant. Just your immediate family, your grandparents, and a couple of colleagues.
You didn't know what the purpose of your dinner was, but you figured it was now about the company.
Of course. You could never have a normal family gathering. Why would you?
You didn't bother really talking to anyone. Not even to your own parents. You noticed them talk to a couple of associates here and there, but couldn't bring yourself to say anything.
Your sister unfortunately saw you and tried talking to you. Apparently after her fiance got arrested, she decided to move on to the next man she could find who was talking to some other business partner somewhere in this apartment. You didn't really care. If the first one didn't work out, you doubt the second one would.
You spent the rest of the evening in silence until you heard someone tap on a wine glass, quieting everyone down as they were brought to their attention.
Your grandfather cleared his throat. "Hello everyone. I hope you're all well. But I would like to inform you that this party was not a matter of mere festivities, but to announce an exciting announcement!"
Everyone waited in awe for your grandfather to continue, excited to what he had to say.
"We have been able to merge with one of our competitors from Japan, combining their technology with ours to make the first 4D experience virtual reality gaming system. This would allow our consumers to be able to be transported to a new reality as well as feel their surroundings, making us a global lead phenomenon in video game technology."
Everyone clapped and cheered as they heard the wonderful news. You clapped your hands slowly, very unenthusiastically as you couldn't care less. You sighed.
The party went on after a while. You snooped around your grandparents' apartment as you made your way to their bedroom like you always did when you were little.
You always admired the little jewelry and knick knacks your grandmother kept in her room. You were going to look at a necklace when a sudden voice startled you.
"Looking for something?" Your grandmother asked.
You turned around, placing a hand on your chest. "Oh my gosh, Grandma! Don't do that to me you almost gave me a heart attack."
