"Why don't I take you to see her?" Draco bit his lip. "I-is she awake?" The doctor shook her head. "Magnolia is unconscious." Draco took a deep breath. "Okay." He whispered.
The doctor smiled at him. "Follow me." Draco followed the doctor behind the swinging doors and through the halls. They came to a room and Draco froze at the doorway. The doctor turned to him. "It's alright, sir. She looks just like her normal self. She's not pale or thin or have a bunch of wires in her." Draco shook his head. "That's not what I'm worried about." The doctor stepped aside and motioned for Draco to step into the room.
He walked in and saw Magnolia laying on her back. There were wires coming from her stomach that led to a screen and an IV poked into her elbow. Draco's eyes fell on the chair next to her bed. He walked over and sat down next to her. Draco picked up Magnolia's hand and squeezed his eyes shut. "I'm so sorry they did this to you, Potter," Draco whispered. He looked back up at the doctor.
"The baby? Is it okay?" The doctor nodded. "As of right now. When Magnolia was hit with the spell her body was put under more stress than it already was. It would help if we knew exactly hw many times-""Three. Three times." The doctor looked over at him then back at Magnolia. "She might be asleep for a while. She's fighting to keep her baby inside of her." Draco tilted his head. "Inside of her?" The doctor sighed. "With the stress she's under, the baby might try and go into labor. The baby would have a 99 percent survival rate but we'd like her to stay in there until absolutely necessary," Draco nodded, keeping his eyes on Magnolia.
"We want to keep her here until she wakes up and a day or two after that for surveillance but once she leaves we're going to put her on strict bed rest for two weeks just to limit stress. The baby is going to be on high alert for any levels of stress so you'll want to be sure to limit those. The stress can cause heart disease, high blood pressure, and a premature labor." Draco nodded.
"When is premature labor not a risk?" He whispered. The doctor walked over to the bed. "When she's 37 weeks. We're going to limit her visitors but is there anyone who might cause her stress?" Draco looked up. "I can make a list of people who can visit her and who can't?" The doctor nodded.
Draco cleared his throat. "Um, anyone with the last name Weasley is an okay, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Hermione Granger, and Harry Potter-""Harry Potter, the Harry Potter?" The doctor asked. Draco nodded. "Yes that's her brother. Those people are all okay. They're here family." The doctor nodded. "Anyone who's a no?" Draco thought for a minute. "Reeta Skeeter. She is to stay as far away from this as possible. None of the nurses or doctors on Mags case are to talk to her. Um and no one else is to visit her unless they're me or the list I gave you." The doctor nodded.
"I think she has people in the waiting room, should I go get-""No!" Draco shouted. His brows knitted together then softened. "Not yet." He looked back at Magnolia. The doctor nodded. "Very well. I'll leave you two alone and I'm going to go update the others." The doctor turned to leave and Draco bit his lip.
"Don't tell them I'm here but um," Draco thought for a minute. He tried to put himself in Magnolia's shoes. "Let one of them come back, just one." The doctor nodded.
Harry was sitting in the waiting room. His leg bouncing nervously and his cheeks were tear stained. The doors opened and everyone's heads shot towards them. "She and the baby are fine for now." Harry let out a breath of relief but his leg continued to bounce. "I'm going to allow one of you to go back and visit her."
Fred leaned forward. "One of us! That's bloody stupid." The doctor turned to him. "We are trying to limit her stress and I'm afraid that having too many people in the room might stress her out so yes one of you." Fred stood up. "Well it should be me." Harry wanted to speak up but Molly and Remus did.
