[Our love has gone cold
You're intertwining your soul with somebody else]
I picked up the last of the little things that were scattered around just as the door was opened. "Oh, Niall! You have such a nice house!" A girly voice chirped. I hated that it reminded me so much of Heather. I walked over to the door entry where a very pretty girl with long brown hair and fair skin and perfect features. It bugged me that she was so beautiful. I hated that Niall was looking at her the way he used to look at me.
"Hi, you must be Emily! I'm Stacey." She introduced, hugging me tightly. Her name completely fit her.
I awkwardly patted her back, "Uh... Nice to meet you." I said as she removed herself from me. "Would you like anything? To drink, eat?" I offered, wiping my hands against my pants.
"Oh, a water would be great. With ice, please." She smiled. I nodded, walking to the kitchen and grabbing a glass, following her request. She continued to wander around the living room and comment about it. As she landed on a photo of Via, she admired it, "Aw, what a cutie." She smiled. I came back, handing her the glass of water. "Oh, thank you." She smiles. I nodded, walking back to the kitchen to grab a couple bottles for Via. Niall followed me, leaving Stacey in the living room.
"So, what do you think?" He asked me, grinning as I got the things ready.
"She's nice." I responded. Too nice. "Just a quick question..." I hesitated asking this.
"Yeah?"
"Um... Wh-Why couldn't she stay in the hotel? Not that I'm telling you to take her back, I'm just a bit curious..." I tried to explain.
"She could've, but you said that she can stay here." He said in a skeptical tone.
"No... I-I know I said that. I was just asking, Niall." I reasoned.
"Do you not trust me?" He asked.
I scoffed mentally. "Of course, I trust you, Niall. I was just-"
"Then what's the problem?"
"There's no problem, Niall. I was just asking." I narrowed my eyes at him. "I said yes because I trust you, Niall. If I didn't trust you, why would I have said yes?"
"I don't know... Because you haven't made an effort to be a good girlfriend and you wanted to make up for it?" I felt my jaw fall slightly as I grew speechless. Just the other night, he apologized for being a terrible father and boyfriend, and now he's putting the blame on me?
"Me?! The one not putting any effort?!" I asked in disbelief.
"Oh, don't act dumb, Emily. Ever since we came home, you've been avoiding me." He explained.
I scoffed, "You're far from correct, Niall. I haven't been avoiding you. What do you want me to do when I'm practically raising our daughter alone while you're typing away? If anything, it seems like you're not even trying for this relationship anymore!" I snapped quietly, still aware that Stacey was just in the other room. Before Niall responded, Stacey came back into the kitchen with an empty glass. Niall and I went back to our previous actions of smiling and being happy, which was the complete opposite. My blood was boiling and if I were a cartoon, I'd be fuming.
"I saw your collection of movies, Emily! Maybe we should watch one tonight?" She suggested.
"I actually have a couple errands to run, but I'm sure Niall will help you settle in and you two can watch them." I fake smiled, grabbing the bottles.
"Oh, are you sure?"
"Why wouldn't I be?" I went up the stairs and went to Via's nursery. She was sleeping peacefully, and it made me feel bad to get her ready to leave. Carefully, I picked her up from her crib and carried her over to the changing table, changing her out of her pj's and into a different onesie and pants. I picked her up again, shushing her as she slightly started to squirm in her sleep. I placed her carefully into her car seat and buckled her in.
"You're seriously gonna leave in the middle of this argument?" Niall asked quietly as he came into the nursery.
I grabbed the diaper bag, "There wouldn't be an argument if you simply just answered my question and not accused me of not trying." I told him, grabbing the handle of the car seat.
"Well then, don't ask questions that make me think that you're doubting me." He fought back.
"Maybe I am, Niall." I finally admitted, turning to face him. "You haven't gotten off that damn phone since we got to Ireland and you haven't even been here mentally. You think it's easy having to take care of a baby when the father is off into his own little world up to the point where I don't even know who you are anymore? Tell me, Niall. How is that fair?" He stayed quiet, staring at me while he tried to think of something to say. "Exactly. It's not." I got Via and carried her out her room and down the stairs. "I'll be back later." I told him, not meeting his eye since I knew he was behind me. I grabbed my car keys and walked out of the house and into the car. I put in Via and placed the diaper bag next to her car seat. I shut her door and got into the driver's side, pulling out of the driveway.
As I arrived to Yomara's, I let out a long sigh. I couldn't believe Niall. He tried to put all the blame on me, but if anything, I've been trying too hard. The hatred I felt for him right now, I wish it would last me more than I knew it would last. I knew that I'd get over it soon, but I wish I didn't. I got out from the car, going to the backseat and grabbing Via and the bag. I went up to the door, opening the door. I opened the door, "Yomara?" I called out. Tessa ran up to us, panting from her little run.
"Hey." Yomara greeted, surprised at the my sudden presence. "What's wrong?" I felt my lip quiver, she knew something was wrong. She could read me so easily, it was annoying sometimes.
Yomara brought me more into the house, "Hey, Em." Tom greeted.
"Hey, uh, can you watch Via for a little? I need to talk to Yomara." I explained, trying to keep my voice normal, trying not to show that I was upset.
"Oh, yeah. Sure. Pass her over." I smiled, passing him Via and setting the diaper bag next to him. I greeted Ashton quickly before Yomara and I went to the dining room. I sat down while she went to the kitchen. I set my phone down and let my head fall onto my arms. Yomara soon came back with two wine glasses and a wine bottle in her other hand.
She sat next to me, "Tell me what happened."
