But what if, somewhere between letting go and holding on, we found the courage to love again.
-Ariana"I probably won't be here when you come back," Andy mumbled when he saw me walk back out of his room. My extra clothes being packed into my overnight bag. "I'm driving up to see mom tomorrow."
"Do you want me to come with you?" I asked reluctantly. My hands running over the counter top. Everything that had involved Andy's family usually meant I was dragged along. I didn't mind, I liked being there for him. And even if his stepdad wasn't the best person in the world, his mother most definitely was. I adored her almost as much as Andy, and I'm pretty sure she liked me as well.
"Nope," Andy said into the back of the couch, his intoxication not doing him any favors while trying to talk. In his case I knew he would have a hang over from hell while driving hours the next day. "You make me sad."
"I'm sorry," I mumbled. "I'll go, I guess."
"Only if you want to mate," Andy said quite sarcastically. "Don't wanna keep you from sky guy."
"Mate," I chuckled sadly taking a seat at the kitchen table. "Not your mate, Andy."
"Oh, yeah," he mumbled. "Forgot we never figured out how to be friends. My bad bro."
