Ch. 12: Riddle

You continue to work in Levi's office, once he left. Helping him file in all the papers he finished reading and writing stacked up on his desk, and put them into a folder.

After a good full hour, you were able to finish organizing everything and put the folders on his desk for him to look over.

You glance at the hand-carved sign still sitting on his desk, grabbing it into your hand, you hang it on the doorknob inside his office. So Hange wouldn't be disappointed again that Levi wasn't using the gift she gave him.

Afterward, you lock up his office. And stroll to the mess hall. You aren't sure where the others are.

No one was at the mess hall.

You glance at the clock hung near the entrance inside the mess hall. In 5 more hours, you'll be picking Furlan up at the nanny's place.

You continue to walk alone, to the training ground which is also empty. Where is everyone?

You walk to the library, knocking on the door before you open it, just in case there was a meeting. You open the door but was only able to find Moblit in the library alone.

Moblit looks over his shoulder and sees you coming in and stopped he was doing.

"Hey," Moblit says.

"Where is everyone else?" you ask.

"Oh, haven't you heard, they're at the courtroom," he says. "Heard there was a new case that sounded quite suspicious, but the guy wouldn't utter a word. Seems very fishy to me. What is he trying to hide..or protect?"

"You mean that one guy that Sasha, Connie, and Reiner brought in," you say.

"Yes, the one I heard gave you a message?" Moblit says as he finishes putting unidentifiable jarred samples into a box.

"Yes," you reply. "I don't have the paper with me, since its evidence. Levi took it with him." you continue to say, "I do want to take a part in his investigation though."

"Pretty sure, they will need your help. Since you're the one being targeted." Moblit says.

Just then Hange comes into the library with Levi.

Hange smiles seeing you here, "____! you're here! We were just talking about you."

"About the case with the message? Can I see the message again?" you ask.

"Of course." Hange opens the file, takes out the slip of paper, and hands it to you.

You place it in the palm of your hand and read the message again.

"Where two moons meet one another, over three arches, to the end where the sun sets is where we will meet."

You glance up at Hange and say, "It didn't say a specific date, tomorrow, tonight, the day after? So, what happened at the courthouse?"

Levi speaks up, "The man wouldn't say a word even if I beat the living daylight out of him." Sitting himself down in a chair, crossing his leg over the other, as he leans his back against the backrest and stares at all the odd stuff Moblit had laid out on the table.

Hange begins to say, "We even gagged him, to prevent him from doing anything like biting his own tongue off or giving him a cell with the padded surface, just in case he wants to bash his own head against the wall."

Levi glance at the window, the sun sinks between the building, its ambient glow paint the interior of the library a slight orange. "What if he is mute?" Levi scoffs and frowns as he suspects the possibilities.
