Ch.11: Coming Back

The gruffy looking man lunges foward with the knife in hand, but Levi quickly dodges and using the man's momentum, Levi flips him over his shoulder.

The man let out a loud grunt as his back hits the cobble stone road, a bit too harshly as he lay there passed out cold.

Levi kneels down, placing his fingers on the man's pulse. He is still alive.

"Tch." Levi clicks his tongue in annoyance. "____, find a rope for me." Levi says as he looks up at you. You quickly scamper around the corner and was able to get a rope for free from the vendor who had them coil up in a pile for later. You insist on paying, but they persist and explained that they saw the commotion down that dead end alley.

Levi quickly ties the man up.

"Do we bring him with us?" you ask.

"Yes, but he's walking on his own." Levi says, as he picks up the knife that had fallen from the man's hand. Handing it to you as he passes by. "Use this to defend yourself if needed. Look after him for me. I'll be right back." he says, looking right then left before turning to the left and disappears around the corner.

You look back at the man still out cold on the street.

Not a few minutes later, Levi comes back with a bucket full of water. Levi stands beside the man, and nudges his foot onto the man's side.

"Oi, wake up!" Levi nudges his foot once more at the man's side. Then frowns as he stares at the man's chest heaving steadily with each breathe.

Levi grabs the bucket full of water and douse it onto the man's head. The man quickly wakes up in surprise as he coughs from snorting up a bit of water through his nostrils. Levi tosses the bucket to the side and grabs the man by his collar for him to stand. The man had no choice but to follow, and also didn't utter a word as he walks with the both of you.

Along the way, back to the inn. Levi walks beside the man, while you walk beside Levi, glancing around for anything suspicious. Some people you pass by looks oddly at the man tied up and drenched from the head walking in the street.

Once the three of you reach the front of the inn. You could see Sasha, Connie and Renier standing at the entrance. Sasha sees you and waves excitedly, until she spots the tied up man walking beside Levi. After you take Furlan into your arms, Levi shoves the man foward. Renier catches the man in his grasp as Sasha, Connie and Reiner looks back at Levi.

"He was found passing a message to ____, and kept his mouth shut till the end." Levi explains and steps a bit closer so only the cadets and the gruffy looking man can hear, "Kick some sense out of him, maybe he'll start talking." Then Levi leans back. He grabs the piece of brown paper out of your hand and showed it to them.

The three of them lean in to take a look, as they frown at it.

"Looks like a riddle." Reiner says.

Both Connie and Sasha nod in unison.

"But doesn't it sound a bit...romantic to you?" Connie says. Subconsciously feeling Levi's stare boring into the side of his head as he gulps and says nothing more.

"I'll go see him myself, so keep a watch on him for now. We'll put Furlan to a nanny for the afternoon, then we'll get back to work." Levi states.

Levi looks over his shoulder at you. Glancing at you and Furlan bonding on the side. Levi ruffles his hand through Furlan's hair. "Mommy has to get back to work. You be good to the nanny. Understand?" Levi says. Furlan looks at his dad and nods twice with a smile.

Now standing on the training ground, covered in a thin layer of snow. You got back to training in this chilly weather, just hoping that it would get warmer. Your breathe fog up into the air with every breathe you take. You gaze at Jean, keeping a short distance, as he readies himself from an attack or defend.
