Ch. 59: In the End

In the end of that week, Sasha and Connie manage to hunt down the most desired house that the both of you had been searching for.

A store front for Levi to open his tea shop, a large kitchen behind the shop. There is a second floor with four rooms. A master bedroom, 2 rooms for the kids when they grow older, and a study room. On the roof, all of you had decided to make it into an open garden with a small glass house to gather and dine in. The two story house settles on a high hill, so if you stand on the roof garden you can look over the cityscape, and see the sunrise and sunset before your eyes.

Levi, you, and Furlan had settled into the house, after the second child was born. It was a girl, which the both of you have decided on the name, Isabel.

Living a quiet ordinary life was quite a change from the life of a scout. But it was all worth it. You can finally see Levi  having a smile more on his face as he played with his kids, he more or less became a househusband doing cleaning around the house, opened his teashop, with you always helping him and by his side.

You and Levi were sometimes called together or separately to meetings. In place, Mike and Nanaba, Sasha and Connie, Jean and Marco, Eren, Armin and Mikasa would all take turns if available to look out for the kids.

Even though, at times when the both of you got home. The house would be a mess. But you just laughed it off and cleaned up with your comrades, which Levi ordered to stay until his house and his shop was spotless clean.

But everyone was always rewarded with a nice gathering at the end. Even Commander Erwin and Hange visited often for a good time. Where all of you would hang out at the roof top garden, gazing up at the endless starry night, talking about dreams that seemed not far out of reach.

Even though, you've become a housewife, you didn't lose touch with the scouts at all. You and Levi long decided to get a smaller version of ODM gear made for Furlan and taught him how to use it. On weekends, the family would go to the small nearby forest in another town, as you strap baby Isabel to yourself. You, Levi, and Furlan would go for a swing. Slowly but surely, teaching Furlan about the world he will grow into as he gets older.

On this Saturady night, as Levi, you and the kids settle down on the couch in the living room. Taking a rest after dinner and playing games together. Furlan takes a nap on the couch as he lay his legs on Levi's lap and snuggle close to you and Isabel, who you lightly cradle and rock in your arms.

Levi motions with his hand to let him carry the baby, as you give the baby to him. Levi looks down at the baby soundly sleeping in his arms. You watch Levi, as he continues to gaze at the baby.

"Isabel," you hear him whisper to the sleeping baby in his arms. Then you watch as Levi's grey eyes looks at his little boy sleeping soundly on your lap, "Furlan," Levi whispers under his breathe, "Welcome home."

For a second, your eyes widen as you thought you saw a small pool of tears well up against the corner of his eyes. But it was just your imagination. You reach your hand over to his face, and place your lips against the side of his head.

You've never seen him cry.

He had never cried in front of you still after all these years.

Even now, you know he's holding onto something inside.

But you know he's slowly leaving all that feeling go, as he is surrounded by the family he had always wanted.

Slowly but surely our dreams and ours hopes will come together.

If we just keep moving foward.
