Ch. 23: Rainy Days

Still inside the cave, the three of you stayed silent, as Levi knotted the bandage to your wounded shoulder.

Levi holds you by your good arm for you to stand up.

You glance at his expressionless face, "Levi.." you begin to say.

Still not looking at you, he replys, "Tell me when we get back " And with your good arm around his neck, Levi walks you through the entrance of the cave. "Let's go." you hear Levi call out to Eren, Mikasa and Connie waiting patiently outisde the cave.

Jean silently follows after.

When all of you got out. Connie silently goes to Jean and grabs his shoudler, slightly hitting it in disbelief, "What the hell, Jean!" Connie forefully whispered to him, "We heard everything!"

But you can hear it all, whatever Connie just said. That means Levi who had came into the cave, had seen and heard everything too.

Everyone had went back to their living quarters after you went to the hospital to check your wound and clean it up further with some ointment to take home to apply. Thankfully the gunshot wound wasn't deep, no major veins were broken, it was just embedded in your flesh.

Levi kept silent till the whole way home. You shut the door behind you, as you watch Levi walks toward the bedroom.

You walk to Furlan's bedroom, and peeks in through the opened door. That's right..Furlan is with Sasha right now.

You walk slowly to the entrance of the bedroom you and Levi shared. You lean against the doorframe as you watch Levi take off his uniform jacket, then unclasp the belt and tosses both of them into the hamper. Levi stand silently with his head down before he turns himself to face you.

You don't know why, but each step he takes towards you feels intimidating.

You continue to lean against the doorframe, not budging, to block his path, because you really wanted to talk to him and don't want him to just walk away like he did at the cave.

Levi stops in front of you, as you block his path. His head lifts up as his grey eyes finally gaze upon you.

"Levi, I pushed him away. He kissed me but I try to push him again. With the fever and the bleeding. I don't have much strength to.." you explain, but was cut off Levi speaking with a sigh.

"I know." Levi says, with much firmness in his voice, you don't know what else to say.

"Where else did he kiss you?" he asks, his grey eyes a bit glazed as he looks at you.

"Just the lips..." you slightly touch your lips as you speak.

"Did he touch you?" Levi continues to ask.

"...Here.." you say as you brush your fingers against your collarbone, "and.." you hesitated a bit.

"And?" he questions, as his grey eyes dawns on you as you glance down to the side.

"He unbuttoned my shirt..." you say, as you glance up at him. Levi was looking at your hands which you had placed near your chest, as your fingers grip on the fabric.

Levi without any words, brushes his shoulder against yours as he walks pass you.

You swallow, then turn your body as you follow his whole being walking toward the front door.

"Levi, where are you going?!" you ask frantically, afraid that something serious would happen.

"What do you think?" Levi asks, as his hand unlocks the front door and turns the doorknob, opening the door. Until you place the palm of your hand flate on the door and pushes it close.

*Bang* the door shuts in front of Levi, as he stand there facing the door, with your hands on either side of him to keep the door close.

"What are you doing?" Levi questions as he stares at your hand keeping the door shut. Then slowly turns around to face you as you continue to trap him against the door.

"Don't do anything dangerous...Don't hurt him..." you briefly whisper the last sentence as you look anxiously at him.

"Are you not hearing yourself right now?!" Levi frowns,  *Bang!*  as he slams his hand against the wall. You got a bit startled as you look at him, making you retrieve your arms as you stand there.

"Why would you protect a man who took advantage of you when you were in no condition to fight back?" Levi shouts in your face.

You look at him in a daze. This is the first time he had ever shout at you, but he has all the reason to.

Levi opens the door, not even bothering to close it as he walks down the hallway and then down the stairs.

"Levi!" you call out to him, as you quickly close the door, and runs after him.

You look down between the stairwell, he had already gone down another flight of stairs and turn the corner to the lobby.

You run down the flight of stairs and got a glimpse of his back as he walks into the still pouring rain. His white dress shirt, his black pants and brown boots getting soaked.

"Levi, wait." You say as you run with all your might to catch up to him. Your chest bump into his back as you hug him tightly from behind, stopping him in his tracks as the both of you stood there in the rain.

Droplets of rain pour down your face and drench your uniform, as you continue to hug him asLevi stands there. Levi lifts his face up, slightly closing his eyes as the rain drips down his face, "This day...is oddly familiar to that day. I haven't felt this feeling for a long time. Why do you need to open them again?" Levi whispers.

You feel his hand lay itself on yours, as he pushes your hands down to unwrap around his waist. You look at him as he turns around to face you.

Levi gazes at you, as you gaze back at him. Droplets of rain collectively gathers at the tip of his bangs and slowly drip down his face.

"I don't even know if you are crying or not because of the rain." Levi says, as he lifts his hand and places it on the side of you face.

"Levi, don't go." you say as you grip both your hands around his wrist, at the hand that touches your cheek with his warmth from the palm of his hand.

Levi glances you, then at your lips that Jean had kissed. His hand on the side of your head moves to the front of your face. His thumb gently wipes across your lips as if to erase the memory that these lips were kissed by someone else.

Levi glances back your eyes as he says, "Don't worry. I won't do anything stupid. So, please just go back and rest. You're going to get sick again." Levi's hands grabs your shoulders and turns you around, giving you a light push toward the entrance of the building the both of you had just came out of.

You look back at him, as he says, " Just give me some time to think about it. I'll sleep at the office tonight. Go rest now."

You continue to gaze at him, as he says, "Quickly."

You slowly walk back under the roof that covers the entrance. Levi watches you until you got under it. Then you gaze at his back as he turns around and walks further, until he disappears into the darkness where you can't see him anymore.
