Twenty-six

"Charlotte, wait!" Carter yelled after me. We finally reached the epicenter of the explosion and I found my team spread across the floor. There were dozens of tall skyscapers surrounding the area with multiple roads leading out. Everyone seemed to have evacuated but some still hung around in shops taking cover. All the cars were empty, which was good. Before I went to help, I searched for a familar building. Once I found it I went up to the roof and looked for my extra pair of suit. I had dozens spread across the city just for this reason. I finished changing and went back down.

"Guys!" I sprinted towards Nova, who was the closest. "Nova! You awake?" I slapped his helmet a few times. He moved a little and a few slaps later he woke up. "Nova!" I shouted in his face.

"Spidergirl?" He said. "What are you doing here? You shouldn't be here." He pushed me away and lost my balance for a moment.

"And why is that!?" Carter knocked me down before he could answer. A glider flew above us, grabbing Nova, and looping back towards us. "Goblin..." I exhaled. I knew I was screwed now. Goblin let go of Nova and he has falling with no intention of stopping. I stood up and threw myself forward hoping I land on the right spot to catch him. And I did.

"Spidergirl!" I heard Spiderman's voice calling out to me. I turned around and he came running towards me. "You should leave now." I was really starting to get annoyed by them. I clenched my fist and while Spidey turned, I grabbed his shoulder and slammed my fist into his face. He fell back, shocked. 

"Don't you dare, tell me to leave again." I growled. "I am sick and tired of people telling me what to do. I want to help, and I don't care who I have to fight." I stood completely still while he stood up. Carter came up behind me but didn't dare bother me.

"Help White Tiger separate Green Goblin from that glider. Nova and I will distract him along with Powerman." He ordered and I smiled.

"Got it." We ran off different directions and Carter followed behind me. "Carter, I need you to give me a boost when I tell you, ok?" He nodded and got ready. I waited for Spiderman and the others to push Goblin towards us, almost crashing into the building behind us. "Ready....?" Carter got even more prepared. I waited a few more seconds before yelling, "GO" and I charged towards him, jumping onto his cupped hands. I felt him launch me upwards and soon I was hovering above Goblin. I wrapped him in webs and pulled him down with me. His glider started spinning out of control and White Tiger took her chance and smahed it towards the ground where she scratched it's engines enough for it to be useless.

"Yeah!" I fist pumped the air.

"It's not over yet." Spidey came from behind with Powerman and Nova. I was about to reply when Carter called us from a distance.

"Hey guys! I found someone!" He moved a couple of cement blocks and we saw the yellow and green of Iron Fist's clothes.

"Iron Fist..." Spiderman breathed and ran over instantly. About to run over as well, I felt a hand grab my ankle and pull me back. I almost fell face first if I hadn't put up my arms in front of me. I look behind me and see Goblin's smiling mask. His manical laugh echoed through it.

"Spidergirl," He sang. "Where do you think you're going?" He stood up to fast for me to react and threw me against a window. I hit my head on a counter of a reception desk. I opened and closed my eyes in sync with the throbbing pain. I then noticed a certain red head.

"Mary Jane?" I said.

"How do you know my name?" She seemed more curious than frightened given her situation. "Nevermind that, can you tell me what's going on out there?" She asked.

"Uh...I...what?" She was definitely interested. I looked around and she was the only person in the building according to what I saw. 

I might as well get her out.
