Two Months Later
Friday. I kept repeating in my head over and over. The bell rung signaling that school was over for today. I packed up faster than I have ever before and rushed out of the school grounds.
"Charlotte! Wait up!" Peter shouted, but I was already running over to the hospital Harry was about to be released from.
Twenty minutes later of constant running, I finally arrived at the hospital. "Ha...rry Os....born.... please." I told the lady at the front desk between deep breaths. She nodded and checked her list.
"Room 22." She said pointing down the hall.
"Thank you!" I ran down the hall, a smile growing on my face with every step I took. "Harry!" I shouted before I entered the room. A nurse shushed me immediately.
"It's ok." Harry told the nurse. She gave me a glare but obliged. "Hey, Charlotte." He looked better than ever. Norman made sure he had the best doctors they had.
I calmed down and walked over to his bed. "How you feeling?" I asked automatically.
"Better. How about you?" He grabbed my hand and I didn't even mind.
"Not bad either. Got my job back at the Daily Bugle. J.J.J begged me back after an article that wasn't supposed to be published, mysteriously got published." I smirked.
"Let me guess, he needed you to fix it?"
"Yep. Imagine that. J.J.J asking for my help!" We laughed and shared stories. He didn't speak much about the accident, I mean, who would?
"Ready to leave?" Harry asked me.
"Am I ready to leave?" I stared at him.
"Good point. Let's go." Harry and I signed out at the front desk and for the first time in two months, Harry breathed in the fresh air of New York. He exhaled and I just looked at him as I caught a taxi. We got into the back seat and Harry closed the door. We had a brief moment of silence before I remembered to tell the driver where to go.
"Why are we going to Pete's house?"
"Because he hasn't seen you since last week and Aunt May invited me over for lunch." I explained and he nodded his head.
"How is Pete doing?" Harry asked.
"Great."
"And you?" I hesitated.
"Uh....good..."
"Why are we stuck trying to get the rhino?!" I complain as I dodge a boulder.
"Don't complain. "Nova snapped at me. "Can you hold him still?!"
"You try stopping a rhino!" I shot multiple webs at his feet, which he escaped easily. "Oh for goodness sake." I muttered and aimed at the Rhino's eyes. He was blinded and charged randomly. Nova shot beams at him, finally putting him unconscious. "Yay!" I put up my hand for a high five but instead find Nova already walking away to report.
"Alright. Whatever, Webhead!" He later came back. "Spiderman's coming. In my opinion, we would have been fine taking him back ourselves."
"Spidey does seem to be more involved..." I wondered to myself.
"Maybe to make sure." Nova muttered under his breath.
"Make sure of what, Nova?" I ask him. He looks up at me. For a spit second I thought he had a look of suspicion or some kind of distrusting. My heart felt as if it had been stabbed with a needle.
"Nah, it's probably nothing." His face was back to the usual ready-to-annoy-any-second face. "Come on, webhead is here."
Harry shaking my shoulders brought me back to reality. "Char? You alright?" He looked concern. I shook my head as if shaking off something in my hair.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Oh we're here!" Peter's house came into view and Harry looked sort of excited. "What's wrong?"
"Wha? Oh, it's nothing. J-Just thought we were gonna spend the day together." He avoided my gaze.
"Oh. Well, tomorrow we'll go to the park, ok?" I put my hand ontop of his. I could have sworn his face turned red for a second.
"Pete is p-probably waiting." He said and rushed out of the taxi.
"Did I do something?" I said as I watched Harry jog towards the front door.
"Teenagers these days..." The taxi driver said while he accepted the money. I sent him a glare and he left.
Aunt May welcomed Harry with open arms and Peter seemed pleased to know that he was healthy. I was grateful that Peter didn't mention I was still staying over at the Parker residence. Harry was having to much fun.
"Charlotte, sweetie, can you go get Peter some napkins from the kitchen?" Aunt May asked. Pete dropped another spoonful of food on himself from laughing.
"No problem!" I stood up and quickly went to the kitchen. I grabbed several napkins and turned to leave when the drying machine went off. There was a pile of clothes settling and among them was...Peter's Spiderman costume.
"Oh, the laundry is done. Be right back." I heard Aunt May get up from her seat.
"Wait, Aunt May!" Peter too got up and I left the napkins and grabbed a basket instead. I opened the dryer's door and stuffed the costume between the other clean clothes. Carefully hiding the bright red and blue colors. Aunt May walked in on me just as I finished stuffing the last of the clothes in the basket.
"Don't worry, Aunt May. I got it. I already finished eating." I rushed past her with the basket of clothes tightly held. Peter walked in and I passed him as well.
"Thanks." He whispered and I smiled. When I came back from Peter's room my mouth dropped.
"What's this?" Harry was holding up my spidey costume. "Your phone was ringing in your bag and I found this."
If a single look could kill a person, I was sure the look on Harry's face was more than enough.
