ONE WEEK LATER
The sudden panic of the first second your alarm clock goes off is the worse. I smashed my fist ontop of it, smashing the alarm clark itself. Didn't need it anyway. Following the alarm, was mutiple knocks on my room door. "Come in." I groaned and Norman Osborne strolled in. At the sight of his face, my entire body went on full alert.
"Charlotte," Norman pulled out a gun and I froze. My body wouldn't move no matter how much I commanded it. "It's all your fault." He claimed and I could feel tears in my eyes, as the sharp pain of a bullet went through me.
I sat upright, panting. My heart was beating a thousand beats per minute and I couldn't stop shaking. It was a...dream? I looked around me and noticed I was in an alleyway. I was soaked to the bone and figured that it must had rained all night.
I slowly stood up and dragged my feet out into the sidewalk. I pulled up my hoodie and hid my hand in my pockets. I kept my head down and avoided as much eye contact with anyone.
It had been a week since I've seen the team or even Harry. I stopped being Spidergirl. I always saw MJ's face on even criminal's face I looked at.
"Cha-lotte, kee-p Peter an-d Harr-y sa-fe"
My head pounded with a migrain as usual. I walked by a pastry shop going slower to yearn for a cupcake or two. I must have stopped completely, because the owner gestured me to come in. I hesitated but decided to go in.
"Hello!" She smiled at me. I smiled back slightly. "Are you ok?" She asked me concerned.
"I-I guess." I leaned back and forth on my heels. She looked about fifty and had several gray hairs already visible from a distance. She looked just as sweet as her pastries. "I don't have money, sorry." I told her just in case she was going to pressure me to buy something.
"I figured. Here." She went behind the cash register and bent down looking for something. A few minutes later she came back holding a brown paper bag filled to the top. "Enjoy." I gave her wide eyes and a face of disbelief. "Well? Take it now." She grabbed my hands and placed the bag ontop of them. As she started telling me what she had packaged for me, I noticed her accent. She sounded British. I missed half of what she said and she must have expected that as well because she bothered herself to repeat it.
"Th-thank you." Was all I could say. "Why are you doing this for me?" She shrugged.
"It's not my first time. I usually do this." She flashed me another smile. I was touched by her kindness.
"Thank you. I'll pay you back." I vowed and she gave me a proud smile. I walked out of the store and leaned against the wall next to the store window. I reached into the bag and picked out the top pastry and began to savor the taste.
Have to admit. She's a good baker.
I noticed she added napkins in as well. The napkins had a name on them.
Reina Riverjade.
Come to Riverjade Pastries! Best pastries in the country!
I chuckled to myself and ate at least two more cakes. I folded the tips of the bag and held it tight against me.
The sun was beginning to go down and I had no place to stay. It's been two weeks since I've last seen Carter as well as Norman Osborne. I knew the team, and Harry, were searching for me and so far, I've managed to evade them.
"Charlotte?"
Until now.
