I woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat. A knock at my front door caught my attention. Sleepily, I half-sleep walked downstairs. I opened the door to see Harry Osborn in a rain coat.
"Harry? What are you doing here?" I was surprised he even knew me, let alone where I live.
"Uh, can I come in?" He asked. He was shivering. It had just rained and the night air was freezing.
"Sure." I got out of the way to let him in. He took off the rain coat and I took it, putting it in the dryer.
"Why is your house so sticky on the outside. That thing is falling like wet glue. I scratched my head thinking of an explanation. I then remembered I wasn't wearing my gloves. I would have to make sure not to touch anything.
"Well, my mom was going to paint the house, but I guess she never finished it." I played the sympathy card. He nodded slowly and decided to drop it.
"Can I stay with you for a while?" He looked at me pleading. My head worked out every possible situation that could happen. Suddenly, my ears started ringing. I could hear everything. I shook my head to make it stop. "So no?" He asked.
"No! I mean yes! You can stay, its just that my ears hurt." I looked at him and I saw everything magnified. I saw every open pore on his face. Even the pesky fly behind him taunting me. I could hear his wings flapping.
"Is there something on my face?" He said worried.
"No! Um. I'm really tired, you can sleep in my mom's room." I stood up and the daring insect flew across my face. Discretely, I caught it. It buzzed in my hand tickling me.
I made the bed and told Harry I would be upstairs if he needed me. Then the dryer beeped signaling it was done. I fell to my knees covering my ears. The fly escaped and buzzed all around again.
"Charlotte!" Harry held me as I screamed from all the noise. I closed my eyes avoiding movement. "You have a fever!" Harry said as he placed his hand on my forehead. I took deep breaths until eventually I pass out in his arms.
I woke up in a warm paradise. I rolled over on my side and saw Harry's face centimeters apart from mine. I held in a yelp as I remembered why he was here.
"Harry?" I whispered, shaking him gently.
"Hmm?" He replies with his eyes still closed.
"Wake up." I said a little louder. He took a deep breath and finally opened his eyes.
"I'm awake. Whats for breakfast." I laughed.
"Excuse me, I'm not making breakfast for you. In my house, everyone makes their own breakfast. Last night, you just came at my door like a soaked puppy and asked to stay. If anything, you make me breakfast."
"But I don't know where anything is."
"Thats what eyes are for bud." I got out of bed and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked great. I felt better. I felt like a new me.
I was munching on my cereal when Harry finally got dressed.
"Took you long enough." I said.
"Yeah well, wheres the Fruit Loops?" He said tired.
"You got 5 minutes to find it." I drank the last of my milk and washed the plate.
"Give me a hint?" He pleaded. I thought about it.
"Its in a box." I smirked and remembered I left something in my room. I ran to the stairs and front flipped all the way to the top. "Damn." I continued to my room and found the gloves. Can't risk anything today.
