I kept silent for the rest of the drive. Although I had been nothing but insolent with Jake, he was rather amiable with me. Not that I was complaining, but his behavior did things to my heart. The wall I created around my heart cracked a little every time I looked at his smiling face. The car came to an abrupt stop, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"We're almost here, just a little walk, and we'll arrive," He informed, pulling into the driveway in front of a parking lot. There were a few more vehicles but not many. Wherever he was planning to take me would be new for me. My hands suddenly went towards the base of my bag to feel its contents as Jake turned off the gas. Thanks to Molly, I still had the pepper spray she gave me. I didn't know if at all I was in danger but, you got to be safe.

"How much of a walking do we have to do?" I asked as we climbed out of the car and started heading towards the unknown destination. Well, to me. So, I just trailed behind him.

"Not much," he said, looking over his shoulder. I gave him a weak nod and started following him. "You haven't been here before, have you?" he asked, walking along the pathway.

"Not really," I gave him a short reply knowing very well that I adored going to the beach. But I had only ever been to the beach was with my family or alone. That was the first time I was going with a guy. And the fact that it was not just some guy, it was Jake whom I never took as a person enjoying sunsets. Was I too judgemental with him?

I could sense the calmness around us, the cool breeze swiping through my hair. It almost felt like we were heading towards a beach. Beach! Yes, that's where we were heading because soon, I could feel the sand under my sneakers.

He stopped walking, making me bump on his back. I quickly moved away from him, making him shake his head and laugh dramatically. "What? You stopped suddenly." I said, recovering from my flustered state.

"Nothing, you have a habit of bumping into me." he bent down to take off his Timberland boots. "Go ahead, take off your shoes too. You can't walk on the sand like that," he said, recovering his stature again.

I looked at him for a few seconds before doing as he said. We took our shoes in hand and walked along towards the water. Once we were on the beach, he turned back and gave me a broad smile. His sun-kissed smile melted my heart, and I couldn't stop my lips as they stretched into a wide grin.

"The sun is about to set, and I don't want to miss the moment. So hurry up." He held out his hand for me. I looked at his smiling face and then at his extended hand, too dazed for any reasoning. There was no harm in holding his hand when all he wanted was to watch the sunset together. And not even a second later, I placed my small sweaty hands on his big ones. The moment his hands wrapped around mine, my heart skipped a beat. I wish I never felt his touch on my skin. Because the moment I did, I wanted to last forever. And that thought itself made me regret ever coming with him, but it was inevitable. So, I just followed him behind as he pulled me along.

Few steps more, and we could hear the crashing sound of the waves as the salty water touched the shore. The smell of saltwater filled my nostrils, and the gentle sea breeze rustled through my skin, causing tingles to run all over. It soothed my nerves, creating a sense of peace and tranquility. I looked at my side to find Jake basking in the light of the dying rays of the sun. I was mesmerized by the way his face sparkled. The glow adorned his milky white skin as the rays of the setting sun fell on him. The content smile on his face and those black orbs shining made him look ethereal. I felt how his hold on my hand tightened even though his attention was on the sun.

The water touched my feet making me jump a little and shift my gaze to the waves. I heard a low chuckle beside me. "You're staring," Jake stated the obvious, still looking at the setting sun.
