I checked the leather Jacket in my hand, and indeed it was mine, the one I wore at the party last time and forgot to collect it later. But it couldn't be just that he also came to have his fun. In the end, I convinced myself not to get affected by anything he did. It wasn't going to end well. I read enough romance novels and had written quite a few to understand how it goes.
"That was unexpected," I mumbled, folding the jacket and placing it back in the dresser. All the while, Leah was looking at me with an unknown expression. Maybe it was weird for her too, and that made me even more pissed at Jake.
"Amy, why did he have your Jacket?" she finally asked me, and my head instantly snapped at her. She wasn't troubled with that, was she?
"How am I supposed to know that. I left it at the frat house, and he must have found it there. That's not even a big deal here. I should be asking you this question. Why did you lose yourself to him again?" I realized my words came out a little too harsh, but I didn't want her to fall vulnerable in front of a guy who didn't pay any heed to her heart. She was too nice for his games.
"I don't know what to say. It's not that simple. Every time Jake's around, I can't help myself reaching out to him." She shifted her weight from one leg to another. I could understand her dilemma, after all, who can resist a hot guy with curly dark hair and the patterns of his tattoos that adorned his milky white skin and-
"He is too irresistible to give up."
Her words snapped me out of the thought that wasn't necessary at all. Why did I think about Jake? I needed to stop, and I did. "Sorry, what's your point?"
She shifted her attention to her messy bed, pretending to rearrange it. Her actions were a clear indication that she wasn't very sure about the things she said next.
"It's true, he is not into commitments for now, but I feel like he might change. He needs someone who doesn't give up on him," Leah explained. "And I want to be that someone for him. Call it an obsession if you want, but I am okay with whatever we have until I could still be around him."
What the hell was wrong with her? I guess it was her choice, and I could only give my point, which wasn't making any sense to her. I groaned, shifting my attention away from her.
"You know what, let's get ready for tonight's party. I guess you have the invitation." I said, heading out of the room with my toiletry bag and towel.
"Yes...I am," her cheerful voice rang behind me.
A warm shower was the best option to get rid of the nauseous feeling. The day's exhaustion was already taking a toll on my energy. After a good twenty minutes bath, I returned to my room feeling a little pumped up for the evening. Leah dressed in a beautiful floral print skirt and a white lace top that outlined her bust perfectly. But she looked more comfortable than last. She was curling her black hair into messy curls, a slightly longer version of Jake's hair. Ugh! Why was I even thinking about him? I quickly discarded the thought and headed towards my dresser.
I changed into my new pair of black jeans, which might be perfect for the evening. They hugged my lean curves decently. I chose my mauve satin shirt with full sleeves, tie-up detail on the front, and a relaxed fit on my body, giving a slight peak to my tiny waist. I wasn't very curvy for my age which was a good thing to avoid extra attention.
"Wow, you look good in that outfit. I feel more exposed now." She pouted, and I noticed her makeup looked a lot better than before.
"Not more than you," I gave her a smile applying a thin stroke of eyeliner and a mauve color lip tint to match my outfit. She gave me thumbs up with a giggle. She was looking pretty and undeniably hot too, who could grab Jake's attention.
