"Like what you see?" another snarky comment from Jake, followed by a smirk. I so much wanted to scratch off his face. Or maybe not. That would be too extreme.
"You wish," I scoffed, even though in the background, my mind wasn't doing very well. "I do feel like throwing up." I patted the back in my mind.
His jaw tightened, followed by an almost invisible frown. I did get back real good.
"Whatever helps you sleep at night," he spat, shifting his gaze elsewhere. And I wanted nothing more than to be out of his focus, even though I couldn't say the same for myself. I wasn't feeling very relaxed anymore, something about being around him always made me fidgety, and I didn't like that feeling.
He went up to the counter and returned with a black coffee. His taste was as bitter as him.
"Hey Seb, what are you doing this early. Isn't it too soon to start working. You've just returned from the tournament, not to mention you scored the soccer cup again for the house. Guys are going crazy about the celebration party." Jake made himself comfortable sitting opposite Sebastian. The way he was saying those words sounded more like a taunt. The guy had some history with Seb, not that I wanted to know. But his playful talks never failed to intrigue me.
"Jake, nice to meet you too," Sebastian sounded unaffected by his taunting comments. "Was behind the timeline for some assignments."
The way Seb remained unaffected by Jake's words might have somehow hurt his daunting personality because he was even ruder than before.
"Shouldn't you prepare yourself for the show? After all, you are the star student of this college?" He said with a lopsided grin. I could sense the tension between the two. How did he manage to speak like that with a senior? And more surprisingly, why was Sebastian bearing with his smug words? He was equally buff and an inch taller than Jake. The only thing missing was the dark personality that I had seen only in him. But I was sure Sebastian's muscles tensed with his words.
"See you at the party," Jake gulped down the bitter coffee in one go before heading out of the cafe. Not before sending a wink my way.
I didn't know all this while my focus never shifted from Jake.
