My mind wasn't functioning anymore. Given all the things happening or just one person, I didn't know. I strode back to the kitchen where I left Leah, but of course, she wasn't there either. It was a mess, the person who invited me was too mysterious for some reason, and the people I came with weren't around either.

I spotted Elijah heading upstairs with a giggling Liz. He didn't look very much in his senses. He might have had a lot of whatever she was making him drink. I bit my lips hard as it looked like he needed to leave too.

"Hey, Elijah!" I shouted from the bottom of the stairs. "Do you want to head back to the dorms? I'm done with this party."

"Amy, where were you? I have been looking for you." He slurred with a broad smile and started heading towards me only to be pulled back by Liz. She didn't look pleased. I think she liked him. Or whatever they call it.

"You better find someone to entertain yourself, Amy," she said, giving a chaste kiss on his left cheek. "This party isn't going to end anytime soon."

What the actual fuck? I was stuck up with a bunch of careless punks.

Before I could even say anything else, both of them were out of my sight. I looked around, and everything seemed too loud and fast, except, of course, me. I dreaded to head back to the comfort of my room, but that seemed distant. I took a deep sigh and sat at the bottom of the stairs, resting my head on the wooden railing. The moment with Jake was still fresh in my mind. How can someone make you feel hot and bothered with simply the looks or proximity?

"Hey, you okay there?" a voice pulled me back to the place. It was Jessie, and her gummy smile didn't fail to make me relaxed. She didn't look drunk to me, which was a good thing.

"I'm a mess, Elijah is with Liz, not leaving this party any time soon, and my roommate is missing. Not to mention I don't feel fine either. So Yeah, I'm okay." I gave her a tight-lipped smile.

She sat beside me, and by the look on her face, I knew I could share some of my anxieties with her.

"Jake is a real jerk. I can't believe such a guy exists. He's always so full of himself." It came out more like a whine. I didn't know what got me so bothered about him.

"What did he do this time?" she asked with knitted eyebrows. Maybe she was a company to keep, beneficial even. No matter how much I wanted Jake not to be part of my life, I still needed him to be in my words. She could give me some insights which my observations must have missed.

"He broke Leah's heart, and she was a crying mess over him. How can a guy be with two girls and seduce the third one in a matter of an hour?" I mumbled the last part, but I guess Jessie heard that too.

"He can be difficult sometimes, but as far as I know him, he is not a player. Girls willingly stay with him knowing that he doesn't do the emotional thing, and he makes that clear at the very beginning." she sounded so confident about everything as if she knew him too closely.

"How do you know that?"I frowned at her. "Leah doesn't deserve this. She is so sweet and innocent."

"I don't know about Leah, but I'm sure about the things I said just now," her voice didn't falter. "I was with him for a short time before I met Xavier." she completed giving me a weak smile.

I didn't know how to react to that, so I stayed silent before my eyes fell on a passed-out Leah on the couch. It wasn't safe to leave her in that condition.

"Can you help me with her? It's not safe to leave her that way," I asked, pointing towards Leah.

"Yeah, let's get her somewhere she can rest. Let's go to Xavier's room. It would be safer for her." She agreed, and we both somehow managed to take her upstairs. We put her down on the bed with a huff and laid her properly, making sure she was comfortable.

"I will go check on Xavier. He must be searching for me everywhere. Do you wanna come back to the party?" she asked me while heading out of the room.

"Do you mind if I stay here, I don't feel good myself?" I wanted nothing more than locking myself in that room till all the chaos, are settled outside.

"Yeah, you can stay here. And don't worry, no one enters this room without permission." She assured, and I gave her a weak nod.

"By the way, who did Jake try to seduce?" she asked rather knowingly. My face heated up to her words, and the images I pushed back to my subconscious came alive in my mind. She chuckled at my reaction and finally took off.

Once again, my mind clouded with Jake's thoughts, and I couldn't ignore the tingles.

Trying to subside the sudden heat rushing in my veins, I took a glance at the sleeping figure sprawled up like a starfish. I decided against sleeping beside Leah. There were high chances of getting cuddled and suffocated by the smell of alcohol. The floor looked like a better option to get through the night, and that's what I did. Resting my back against the side of the bed, I sat on the floor. At least the fluffy rugs were a relief lulling me to much need sleep.
