Just Friends?

*Carmen's POV*

I walk around the school halls of my high school as my friends taunt me as they follow.

"When are you just going to go on a date with him already?!" begs Riley, number uno best friend.

"Yeah, I mean he's soooo freaking sexy-" starts Alexia, number dos best friend.

I quickly interrupted Alexia's disgusting thought. "Okay, it's okay to tell your pillow that he's sexy, or your diary, but not in front of me please unless you want to see me vomit" I gag as I then keep walking with Riley and Alexia groaning weakly behind me.

Both of them were begging me to date my best friend, Matthew Espinosa, who has been my best friend since Pre-K, and ever since we have been pretty inseparable.

But now both Matt and I are at an age (17) where our friends plead for us to get together and date.

And, believe me, his friends pester him even more than mine pester me.

*Matt's POV*

"You have to admit that Carmen's exceptionally hot!" claims Alex as we pick up footballs for our PE class.

I gag. "Guys, yes she is attractive, sure, but she is not my type" I claim for the tenth time.

Xavier, who was giving me a look, then says "If you weren't best friends with her than I would've banged her already."

I throw my football at his head. "Through my dead body you bang her" I say in Xavier's stupid douchey voice.

Xavier and Alex smirk. "Someone's jealous" Alex says, biting his lip to hide his upcoming snickers.

"I'm not jealo-" I try to say, but Xavier interrupts.

"I think you're blushing" Xavier laughs.

"I am not-" I try again.

"He's totally jealous" Alex chuckles.

"I AM NOT JEALOUS!" I yell this time making them both jump back from my outburst.

But...suddenly, I realized something.

I was jealous.

*Carmen's POV*

I walk away from both Alexia and Riley, and find Matt on the football field. I didn't care that I was skipping class.

I'd rather be with Matt than behind a desk.

I find him walking by himself as he swiveled a football in his hands. I smile when I see him and I run up to him and hug Matt tight.

Matt is startled at first, but in a split second he hugged me back while chuckling happily into my shoulder.

We stay in arms for a second and then Matt says "All this dating suggestion crap is making me tired."

I chuckle into Matt's chest, smiling. "Me too" I agree.

Then, suddenly, Matt's head leaned down to me. "But...since Alex and Xavier have been pestering me all day...I've really been thinking about dating."

I frown, but find myself blushing. "Really?" I ask, and I find a smile spreading on my cheeks.

Matt leans down and nuzzles my nose with his, then tucks a strand of hair behind my ear.

"I've finally noticed your true beauty, Carmen."

My face burns endlessly. "My true...t-true beauty?" I stammer stupidly, stunned.

Matt smiles and hovers his beckoning plump pink lips over mine. "You're beautiful, Carmen."

I blush and lean into Matt's lips slightly, but then stop myself. "What h-happened to being f-friends?" I ask, stammering like a drunk.

Matt leans more upward and kisses my nose softly, then my jawline, then the slightest corner of my lips.

"I think I wanna try this whole 'dating' thing out for a little" Matt murmurs to me as he then pressed his lips against mine.

And, to be honest, it was the most magical kiss I've ever experienced.

The whole football field disappeared and it was just Matt and I together in complete nothingness.

All that mattered in that moment was us.

Especially, when I kissed back.
