Sinking

*Makayla's POV*

I lay on the cushioning of the couch on the speed boat as the boat's motor roared, flying through the water and leaving waves behind us.

The salty sea water drizzled onto my face and caramel hair. I was wearing my favorite Ray Band sunglasses and a simple black bikini.

I let my hair loose from its former loose pony tail and now it was flying from the sea water wind.

The driver of the boat was my best friend Cameron Dally, or Dallas, I just prefer his nickname.

The boy manning the coolers full of root beer bottles and mini chip bags was Nashley (Nash), and then the boy who was currently flicking ice chips into my face was little devious Matty, my favorite amigo.

"Matty stop it" I whine as I through back an ice cube at his, it pelting him on his abs, which he winced at from the cold touch.

"Owchie" Matt giggles like a five year old as I stick my tongue out at him, meeting his insecurity as I stand up, tired of tanning and walk up to the driver.

Cameron hits a huge wave, making the boat fly upwards and almost flip over. I gasp and grab the boat's railing, which wouldn't do me any good if the boat flipped.

"Cameron, oh my God!" Nash scolds, just making Cameron laugh harder.

"Cameron chill, will you?" I beg.

"Yeah seriously" Matt agrees.

Cameron stops the boat in the middle of the lake and says after his laughter dies down, "You guys are no fun" and then he pops open another root beer.

I sigh and take off my sunglasses, tucking them away with my clothes that lay in the pile at the back and say "I think I'm gonna finally get in the water."

"I'll join" Cameron pipes up, slipping off his fairly thin grey tee shirt and steadying himself on the boat's railing.

Cameron puts his hands together over his head, bends his knees, and plunges into the summer mid air and lands his five into the hopefully cold water.

It takes Cam five seconds to resurface.

"Woo!" Cameron cheers, chalking his head vigorously to get his now soaking wet hair out of his eyes like a dog.

I laugh and get up on the railing myself and breathe in the salty air. Once I exhale, I smile from the sensation and smooth my hands over my bare stomach.

I look down and see Cameron in the middle of my way in the water, grinning up at me.

I laugh. "Cam out of my way!"

Cam notices and laughs himself. "Whoops" he mutters as he swims out of my way and to the side.

I then get into the form Cam was in before he jumped. I take another deep breath, and then jump into diving form.

The last thing I hear once I jump is the guys cheering for me as I submerged into the icy cold water.

Once I hit the water, the cold water felt like little needles pricking my skin. But once I was fully under, my goosebumps were erased and I was calmed.

I open my eyes daringly and at first only see the murky blue water of Lake Michigan.

I then see my caramel locks swimming around my head and face, looking like a dark shade of brown under the water.

I felt something on my foot that felt slimy and long. I flinch and squeal under water, to see it was just seaweed.

Ugh I hate when that happens, I think.
