*Emily's POV*

Ever since I was a little five year old attending my first day of kindergarten, I've always hated school.

Of course, before that, I was at pre-school which I loved going to because people didn't judge you on what you were wearing or how your hair looked that day.

Which is fortunate for me since I always styled my brown hair into two braids and wore Dora the Explorer or Peter Pan inspired clothes.

Now that I am fifteen, and going to high school for my freshman year, I am wishing I could go back in time to the good old days where we spent our time learning about Winnie the Pooh and how he helped Eeyore find his tail.

As I exit my memorable home to walk down to the bus stop, I take a minute to judge my own appearance.

I wore regular jean shorts along with a Nirvana shirt and my feet were dressed in my white Converses.

My long brown hair, which is now much longer than it was in pre-school, was wavy and soft to the touch.

I had only applied a few coats of mascara to my eyelashes makeup-wise.

I knew to others I would look terrible, or old-fashioned, or somehow slutty, but I just quietly sighed and parked myself next to the stop sign I've stood next to since I was a little girl.

Of course, since I lived in a packed neighborhood, there were others standing amongst myself.

Always the same six people at my bus stop; Parker, Alexia, Matthew, Josh, and Cassie.

Alexia and Cassie were known as a duo, but to me they were like evil step sisters, always telling me how I looked, which was never a positive thing, and always shooting insults to my face.

Parker and Josh always picked on me and told me I should just go and die already, since to them I am apparently worthless.

And Matthew...I don't really know what to think of him.

I know he moved here from Virginia when he was five, and I know that Alexia is his ex-girlfriend. I never found out why they broke up.

Matt and I have only exchanged words at one point in our lives, which was the first day of kindergarten.

I had boarded the bus shaky and scared, and I saw there weren't even any seats left.

I almost started thinking about sitting in the aisle until little five year old Matthew looked up at me from the front seat and said:

"You can sit here if you want to." He added a smile with it that showed he had given the tooth fairy more than what she could handle.

I smiled back, I remember, and then gradually took the seat next to him.

We didn't say one more word. And we haven't to this day.

I am knocked out of my day dream when Parker shoves me into the stop sign I was standing beside.

"Don't ignore me, you whore" Parker hisses as he glares at me.

Apparently he had said something probably negative that I had chosen not to listen to.

"Take it easy" Matthew murmurs to Parker, his words quiet but his glare at Parker loud.

"What? I'm just teaching this pathetic girl a lesson" Parker grins evilly as he shoves me again into the sign, making my already hurt shoulder scream.

Alexia and Cassie giggled as they watched. Josh was laughing while he stood next to Matthew, who seemed silently angry.

I try to move to the other side of the sidewalk but Josh blocks me and shoves me back.
