*Mikayla's POV*

I slumped in my small seat on the leather sofa. I felt so small compared to everyone else here. It was like they were royalty and I was the jester.

Here sat Danielle and Cecelia, my good friends, plus my other guy friends, which were Joey, Tyler and Matthew.

Then one more person; the reason I was slumping, the reason I was wearing long sleeved shirts and throwing away all my swim suits.

Derick. My boyfriend.

We all sat on the couches, watching some free movies on Direct TV and eating random things being passed around.

I studied Derick throughout the whole time being at Cecelia's house. He didn't look as angry as he did before we left.

He had gotten mad at me for hugging one of my good friend's (who was a boy) at school. That earned me a punch in the side...

Matt, suddenly, frowns. "Mikayla, are you okay?" he asks with eyes with somewhat concern.

I jump from hearing my name, because just two hours ago my name was being yelled at me.

"Yes" I answer after a moment. I was sick of lying.

Thankfully, Danni speaks up. "I don't even like this movie. What the hell is this even called?" she asks.

The movie playing included wizards, wands, and spells made up by J.K. Rowling.

"Uh, Harry Potter?" answers Tyler, in disbelief she didn't know what it was when it was known all around the world.

Danni shrugs. "Never heard of it."

Before Tyler could start ranting on about how ridiculous that was, like he always does, Joey interrupts.

"How about a game? Truth or Dare?"

I gulp.

"Sounds good!" they all say. I growl under my breath as we all sit in a circle on the floor and start the game.

About the whole Derick being abusive...I haven't told anyone. Why?

Because I'm scared.

I haven't told Cecelia, Danni, Matt, my closest friend, not even my parents who adore him.

If I even tried to break up with him, which I've tried to do before, he will go insane. I still have bruises from that night...it gives me shivers.

"Okay, who's going first?" Danielle asks.

"I'll go" suggests Matt.

We wait for him to pick someone and finally his eyes land on Derick.

"Truth or Dare, Derick?" Matt asks with a slight edge in his tone.

The thing is...Matt hates Derick. He thinks he's a bad guy, horrible, and he hated when we started dating. I at first assured him it was fine...

I'm ashamed of how right Matt was.

I had to beg him when Derick and I first started dating to be nice, and so far, he has tried his best.

But that's not the only reason I want him to be kind.

I don't want Matt getting bruises too.

Derick answers Matt. "Truth."

Matt's expression seems to brighten.

Oh boy. I knew what he was doing.

"Have you ever gotten arrested, perhaps?" Matt asks.
