The first day of the trial was kind of hectic and extremely frustrating for Ryuhee and Namjoon. The defence lawyer of Kim Kihyung had brought all the old forged evidences.
The prosecutor told the jury how the suspect had fled from the crime scene after the accident had taken place. He did not even check on the patient or called an ambulance.
However, they had no evidence to prove that the suspect was drunk at that time. But it bought them some time. After the trial had ended, Ryuhee and Namjoon were in the corridor, discussing about their next step.
At that time, Jimin came to ask them about their progress but Ryuhee turned a blind eye to him. "Now that's not fair, Ryu. Because of me, the case reopened." Ryuhee massaged her temples.
"Prosecutor Kim, we will talk about this later," she said with a smile, asking him to give them privacy. He took the hint and left. "What the fuck is your problem?"
"Dad!" Taehyung greeted his father outside of the court, "You didn't even tell me that you are in Seoul." Mr. Kim smiled, embracing his son. "You have grown so much."
Taehyung could not hug him back. Ryuhee's words kept coming back to his mind. He got to know about his father's arrival through one of his acquaintance from the jury. He still did not know that Ryuhee was also present there.
His father disapproved of the idea of letting Taehyung know about this controversial case but it happened anyway. Taehyung broke the hug, pulling away. He needed to sort things out with Ryuhee first.
"You go ahead," he spoke, "I will come after a smoke." Taehyung had been using cigarettes as his escape again. Though, this habit of his had not totally gone but it disappeared because of Ryuhee for a short period of time.
"Do you need my lighter?" His father offered. "No, dad. I have mine." He went to a corner and stood against the metallic railing. Taehyung took out a cigarette of the packet and balanced it by putting the filter end between his lips.
He turned on the lighter and held it on the tip of the cigarette, covering the flame with his other hand to block the wind. Taehyung could feel his stress flowing out along with the released adrenaline from his brain.
Suddenly his eyes landed on Jimin and Ryuhee, who were talking on the end of the hallway. His sharp gaze, tightened jaw and sparking eyes-everything was expressing the irritation that flooded his veins.
Swallowing hard, Taehyung pressed the lit tip of the cigarette on the hard surface of the railing before walking towards them. Clicking his tongue, he gritted through his teeth, "I am sorry for taking your time but I really need to talk to you."
Ryuhee looked up at him. His eyes were different-like she had never seen before. The female pressed her lips to a thin line. "I have nothing to say to a person who openly supports a murderer."
Taehyung sighed-so deeply that it almost sounded like a scoff.
"I should have known. Are you the reason for dad to come here without any notice?" Jimin smiled gleefully. "Not quite," he said, grabbing the other male's attention, "You see I am the one who caused your tag game lover dad to return to the 'it'."
Taehyung's forehead creased. He turned to Ryuhee again. "Why is this scumbag talking instead of you?" Ryuhee slowly shook her head-expressing her disappointment in him as she turned on her heels to leave.
Taehyung grabbed her wrist and spun her around. "I am not finished yet." Ryuhee struggled in her hold. "I already said I don't want to talk to you."
Jimin pursed his lips, watching the two. "Tell me," Taehyung spoke again, demanding, "Why is this crud with you?" Ryuhee breathed, exhaling out the frustration, looking into his eyes which held the bitter emotion of feeling betrayed.
But why?
The female felt herself melting by his eyes. The same eyes he had, when she first realised that night that he just wanted affection. He just wants to get loved.
"Whoa!" Jimin lifted his arms defensively. "Isn't insulting me to this level a little too much?" Ryuhee broke out of her trance.
"Jimin helped me to at least try to get justice for my mom. Of course, he is the one who would be with me. Not you, who left me as soon as he knew that his father is the one who turned me to an orphan."
Jimin's eyes softened. He knew that Ryuhee was not an orphan. Yet he always used to ignore whenever she said how she did not like her father and he was not even their for her mother.
He knew that she did not consider her father as a parent but still turned a blind eye to it as he needed his help in his business.
"So you prefer to be with him who hurt you like that," he pointed at Jimin with disgust, "Over me?" Taehyung attempted to change her mind for one last time. Ryuhee averted her eyes before nodding. "Look at me, Kang Ryuhee! Look into my eyes and say that again."
The female did what she was asked to, struggling to fight with the very last cell in her body. Gazing into his dark brown eyes, she muttered, enunciating every word, "I prefer Jimin over you."
The male loosened his grip on her as she yanked her hand out of his hold. He bitterly smiled.
"You will never know what love is."

Vote for the chapter please!
Taehyung needs to try to see things from Ryuhee's point of view as well. He needs to be more flexible about his dad and be maturer.
