There was just one week left till the last trial. The previous trial was wasted by Namjoon using his prosecutor skills to buy the court's time and losing the only willing testifier.
Taehyung united his blood and sweat to find another testifier. He arranged a hacker to get into the hospital's computer and print out a copy of the original report of his father being drunk at that time.
Now the only thing was left to do was to wait. They did not have any testifier but the evidence was enough for Namjoon to prove Kim Kihyung guilty at the court.
Taehyung stood patiently as his father was taken to the jail. He was made to wear handcuffs, expressing that he was arrested. He breathed out an exasperated sigh. Would Ryuhee be happy that her mom finally got justice?
He needed to see her—right then. But she is not awake. Even if she woke up, would she want to see me? He dropped his head in his hands, shedding a few tears. I said such harsh things to her.
Yet he was there, sitting on the floor right next to her bed in the hospital, intertwining his fingers with hers, he waited. Placing a kiss on the back of her hand, he waited—preparing himself to wait for one second and then another until he fell asleep.
Taehyung did not know how long it would take for Ryuhee to get consciousness. The injuries she had gotten due to the accident were pretty serious and the doctor only stated that she was out of danger.
One week passed like that with Taehyung skipping his office every work day and the weekends, spending all of his time to buy fresh flowers and plants, to decorate the off-white plastered monotonous hospital cabin.
He used to fall asleep, sitting on the floor, resting his head on Ryuhee's bed, holding her hand. After that week passed, the first time in a while, Ryuhee's eyes opened before Taehyung's.
Her eyelids trembled, struggling to earn strength to lift themselves up. Her gaze softened as soon as her eyes landed upon the black haired male in front of her who was still sleeping with the golden sunlight radiated his closed eyes and his refined facial features.
Ryuhee reached up to touch his soft hair, slowly trying to arrange the tousled strands of his hair. Taehyung, who was functioning like an artificially intelligent machine for the past few days, woke up at his favourite human's touch.
He could not believe that it was happening. Every last sane cell inside him was telling him that it was the same dream, he had been having since Ryuhee's accident. But one peculiar cell was wishing for it to be true.
"How are you?" The female asked, causing Taehyung to break into tears. He was bawling like a little child. Ryuhee's forehead creased. She touched his face. "I am okay, I promise."
Taehyung buried his face in her arms, sobbing even more. The nurses who were around, called the doctor to check up on her. Ryuhee had regained consciousness but she did not have enough energy to keep awake, causing her to fall asleep again.
This time, when she woke up, he told her how Kim Kihyung got what he deserved. But the only thing, Ryuhee was worried about was if Taehyung was okay. The smiles he flashed while telling her that happy news, none of them reached his eyes.
For a fact, she knew, anything Kim Kihyung did, had nothing to do with Taehyung nor with his blind love for his father. He might be hating him right now but it was probably the toughest time for him.
Hating the person, whom you love the most, that too your parent, is probably the hardest thing for anyone.
