19: Case Closed

As the music stopped, our dance instructor congratulated us one by one and told us to sit down so he could discuss things better. The dance instructor finally dismissed us.

We went to our bags and I started gulping down huge amounts of water from my bottle. I let out a sigh and panted while Yaowen sat next to me. He nudged me so I nudged him back with a small smile. He looked at me in confusion and I mirrored him before chuckling. "You seem weird."

"In what way am I weird?" I asked.

"I've seen you randomly smiling from time to time during our practice."

"You've been like that ever since you found out that Cess is Selin." Haoxiang joined, popping out of nowhere which startled us.

With that being said, they all started teasing me. "Now that I think about it, Yaxuan looks like he really likes her." Junlin commented.

"So, when are you planning to confess?" Zhenyuan asked, silencing all of us as they diverted their gazes on me.

"I don't really know. Should I even? What if she rejects me this time? I'm kind of scared just thinking of it."

"I think she still likes you. Genuine feelings don't fade away so easily." Xiaoma Ge encouraged.

"Song Yaxuan, are you perhaps scared of getting rejected?" Chengxin teased. "Bro, it's scarier if your research proposal's the one that gets rejected by the panellists."

Xiaoma Ge agreed as he chuckled. "He's right, Xuan'er. Besides, there's no harm in trying. Why don't you muster up the courage to tell her the way she mustered up hers even though she clearly knew she'd get rejected?"

I looked at them and was about to say something, but I was cut off because of the sudden ring on my phone.

I looked at it and a smile plastered on my face. "She messaged me."

"Pretty obvious." Haoxiang laughed.

I playfully glared at him. They laughed and I proceeded to read her message phone, "She asked Alex if they could somehow meet again since the first meetup failed."

Junlin snapped his fingers and smiled widely. "That's it! Ask her to hang out with you as Song Yaxuan. Then, you can tell her that you are Alex. She might be dumbfounded about this, but at least you have clarified things before confessing, right?"

"I don't know how to confess... " I mumbled.

They all looked at me and the silence was too loud for me. "Is it your first time liking someone?" Xiaoding Gege asked.

"Of course not."

"Oh, so you just don't like confessing."

"Just pour all your feelings out of your chest. I'm sure that's how Selin did it." Xiaohe advised.

I was doing my homework when suddenly, my phone started to ring. I looked at the caller, and it was Yaxuan, so I immediately answered the call. "Hi, Yaxuan. Do you need something?"
