23: Night Sky

Yaxuan's P.O.V

I wonder if Selin had a good time today, considering that she went out with her mom. We walked out of the dorm and started making our way to one of the nearest barbecue stores. Chengxin Gege grunted while stretching his arms up. "How are things between you and your personal assistant, Xiaosong?"

I looked at him. "Huh? What's with the sudden question?"

"Well, we expected that you guys would meet today. You guys always seem to meet whenever you're free."

Xiaoma Ge agreed. "Yeah, Xuan'er. Did you guys fight?"

I smiled and shook my head. "No, no. She had other plans."

We ended the subject and switched topics about academics and training. We were listening to Wen'er rant about how much he wanted to buy the Peppa Pig stuffed toy he saw at the mall the other day when my phone started to ring.

I reached for my phone that was in my jean's pocket. I checked who it was and I subconsciously smiled the moment I saw her name on the screen. Why is she calling me up this late?

I didn't think any further and answered her call right away. "Hi, Selin."

The other members stopped chattering and looked at me with grins on their faces. I playfully rolled my eyes at them with a smile plastered on my face. They circled around me and waited for the conversation to continue.

"Hey, Yaxuan!" She greeted.

"Hey, why are you still up late at night?"

"Well... " She paused for a moment. "I was wondering if I could meet you tonight."

"You want to meet me tonight?"

The other members tried to silently tease me by nudging and pushing me around, trying to keep their voices down while laughing.

"Yeah, if it's okay with you."

"Uh... " I looked at them. They were all snickering around me. "I don't think I can."

Haoxiang widened his eyes at me and started pushing me in the opposite direction. The others quickly understood what he was trying to do while I was still confused about why they were pushing me the other way. I tried to stiffen myself so they'll find it hard to push me but still no use. I looked at Xiaoding Gege with a confused look on my face and he just mouthed 'go.'

"Ah, I see. You must be resting now, that's why." I heard Selin say.

Wen'er, who has had his ear near my phone the whole time, started gesturing me to go now. They all started whisper-shouting at me to go to Selin now. Seriously, these guys. I just shook my head to myself and sighed.

"Yaxuan? Are you okay? Am I bothering you?"

"No, no." I quickly reassured. She probably thought she was disturbing my rest. "On second thought, let's meet."

"Really?!" Excitement lingered in her sweet voice. "Should we meet at the playground again?"

"Sure thing." I softly said and smiled. I looked down on the road as the other members silently cheered. She's got me smiling to myself more. "I'll be on my way, then."

"Okay! See you there, Yaxuan."

I hummed with a tightlipped smile on my face. "See you." I hung up and looked at them. "Seriously, you guys should stop teasing me this late at night!"

"So, are you going to see Selin now?" Jiaqi Gege asked with his eyes glistening.

I nodded my head and tried to keep myself from smiling widely as they cheered for me. "Well, what are you waiting for? Go!" Xiaoding Gege urged, lightly pushing me by the arm and nodding his head towards the direction to where I'm going.

"Wait, but what about the barbec- ?"

"We'll bring home some barbecue for you, don't worry." Wen'er assured. "Don't make her wait for too long!"

"I owe you guys a lot!" I saluted as I started to run.

They all waved at me while they watched me run to where Selin and I would be meeting. I want to treasure my last moments with Selin for this month. I want to let her know how much she made my year more fun the moment she came into my life. Besides, it's already the last month of the year.

As soon as I caught sight of the playground, I walked and panted my way there. I saw her sitting on the swing while on her phone. I sneakily went up to her and surprised her. She flinched and squeaked which was really cute. I laughed and she just playfully glared at me.

I sat on the swing next to her. "Did I make you wait?"

She shook her head. "I just got here."

I smiled at her and she blushed while smiling back. She looked up at the night sky and so did I.

"Selin... "

"Hm?"

"May I hold your hand? Just for tonight."

She flushed at my request and started stuttering. "Huh?"

"Sorry, was it too much to ask for?" I shyly smiled as I rubbed my nape in embarrassment.

She frantically waved her hands in front of me while also shaking her head. "No, not at all! I just didn't expect you want to hold hands with me."

"Then," I lowly said, slowly reaching for her hand, "may I?"

Selin shyly nodded her head and looked at her hand that I was holding. I smiled at her and slowly intertwined it with mine. She gently did the same and smiled softly. We both looked at the night sky once more and stayed there, just holding hands as we felt the night breeze embrace us both.

She tightened her grip and it made me look at her. She was looking up with her eyes closed but her smile was really gentle and soft. Her hair danced with the wind, and I watched her beauty there silently. Another moment where I wanted time to stop. Holding her hand gave me this tingling feeling, and I can't stop my heart from racing. But it feels good. Being with her is more than enough for me.
