"Hello... He... Hello. Is anyone... Can anyone hear me?" Virgil stood there staring at the radio feeling his blood start to boil. He knew that voice. It was a voice he NEVER wanted to hear again. "This is Kai Winters from Project Storm." Project Storm... A government project whose sole purpose is the creation of a vaccine. A vaccine... for the zombie virus. "We are need of... Is this actually working or... We need help. Subject ... has escap... I repeat. Subject Storm has escaped." He clenched his fists tightly as the audio started to go bad. "Hello?" You could hear the sound of screams coming through the line and he frowned. "Shit, Time to go! Please, If anyone can hear this we need to find Subject Storm. He's the only way we can make a cure." Virgil could hear the desperation in the guys voice. He just leaned in, his hand holding the radio waiting to turn it off but... he didn't. He just kept listening. "Please... Virgil if your hearing this... I'm sorry. We need you.." Virgil threw the radio and watched as it broke apart.
"Fuck you." It was all he could say. How dare he apologize? How dare he beg him to come back?! Virgil escaped that hell... WHY WOULD HE EVER GO BACK?! Why... The sound of gurgling and groans reached his ears and his heart started pounding. Virgil was on his own in a fucking zombie apocalypse. His heart wouldn't calm down even as he slowly made his way out of the abandoned building. Can you blame him though? They're Zombies. Not only that but...
"HOLD HIM STILL!" Burly ass men in black combat uniforms held Virgil tightly against the metal table as the doctor strapped his arms and legs down. He was in tears and freaking the fuck out. He struggled as much as he could, his black hair falling in front of his eyes as he cried. "I SAID HOLD HIM!" The men's grip got stronger and Virgil was bearly even able to lift himself up a millimeter off the table.
"Why are you doing this?" He choked out as he watched the doctor fill this syringe with some sort of liquid. "Why..."
"In accordance with the Emergency Executive Order Section Z, you are hereby notified that you have been selected for exposure to an experimental substance." The doctor turned over to look at him just as he pulled the needle from the vial and Virgil froze terrified.
"B-But you c-can't. You can't just... LET ME GO!" The doctor shot him this almost sad look and Virgil screamed. "Why? Why me?"
"You're an orphan and your genetic markers matched." Virgil's blood grew cold as he walked over. "Now, hold him steady."
"NO!" He struggled. He did. He tried to fight so hard but that needle still found it's way into him. He felt the prick and felt the burning liquid enter his bloodstream. He screamed and everyone quickly let go. The burning spread throughout his body as it convulsed in on itself. The only things keeping him from falling off the table was the straps that held him so tightly they cut into his wrists and ankles. The sound of gunshots drew closer and everyone went in a panic. The doctors face filled Virgil's vision as he held a gun to the poor boy's forehead.
"Another failure." He cocked the hammer back just as someone grabbed his shoulder dragging him off.
"We don't have time. Let's go!" Virgil screamed out again praying anyone could hear him.
"DON'T JUST LEAVE ME HERE! SOMEONE HELP!" His blood grew cold as the sound of groans filled his ears. He looked over to see two zombies barreling in and he strained against the straps. They wasted no time in chomping down on him even as more gunshots tore through the place. Virgil's arm and inner leg screamed out in agony long after the two fell dead for good on the floor.
"Virgil?!" The poor boy couldn't speak. He couldn't do anything but cry. He was bitten. He was bitten and He was going to die. He was going to turn. He was... "VIRGIL!" The straps fell loose and he felt as he was picked up carefully in another's arms. "Don't die on me now, kid. Don't..."
Virgil tripped on a rock, pulling himself out of his flashback, as hit his head on the ground hard just as a zombie towered over him. His anxiety shot through the roof. He struggled just to hold it back as it desperately and animalisticly tried to bite down on his face. Virgil cried in total fear as it drew closer and closer. Why doesn't he just kill it? Why... HE DOESN'T HAVE A DAMN WEAPON! He couldn't even if he wanted to. He was utterly terrified. TRAUMATIZED. He tries so hard to NEVER even see them, let alone get close enough to kill one. Its teeth were moments from his neck when a gunshot tore through the place and the monster fell limp in his arm. He screamed out pushing it off him so fast as he scrambled away from it. Virgil felt himself bump into something and froze up hearing a gun click. His hand slowly went up in surrender as he turned around to see a gun pointed right at him.
"A zombie surrendering... now that's a first."
