The night's mysterious darkness is covering the entire room like a huge piece of velvet. Shadows of common things now look way more frightening than the actual objects themselves. But, surprisingly, I'm not impressed, nor scared.
My guardian angel is sleeping next to me, with his arms wrapped around my body, making it impossible for anyone or anything to do something to me. I can't see clearly, but I don't have to, because this is the only face that I could remember even in the darkest of nights. He's the person that I'll never forget for as long as I may walk on earth and even after.
I take a look at the clock. Almost four in the morning, but my sleep is nowhere to be found. I don't know if it's the nightmare or the fact that it was too realistic, but I'm certain that I won't be able to close my eyes till I'll make sure that Juan is fine.
My fingers are gently caressing his arms, drawing invisible lines over the countless scars. I wish I'd know the story behind each and every one of them, so that I can love them properly.
His eyelids move and I take my hand immediately. The last thing I wanted was to wake him up, yet I keep forgetting that he was used to wake up even at the slightest sound or movement.
"Go on," he whispers.
I smile as I resume my action, only this time with more care, hoping that he'll fall back asleep.
"Silene?" his eyes are slowly opening. "Why can't you sleep?"
"I guess I had enough sleep in prison," I say, only to realize that it wasn't the best response possible.
A loud sigh escapes from between his lips.
Last night there was an entire guilt trip around this subject. Juan was blaming himself for everything that happened to me and I tried so hard to convince him that it's not his fault and the decision was solely mine. He accepted in the end, but I guess it was more to calm me than he was actually believing it. Surely, deep down, this is going to be a bleeding wound for quite a while.
"I had a nightmare," I say trying to fix the impact of my first line. "Then, I woke up and I couldn't sleep."
"What nightmare?" he looks at me concerned.
Now, I'm not sure if I want to share this with him, but, since I started it, I can't back off.
"I dreamt that I lost you." I can barely hear myself. "They got you and I had to run."
"Who are they?" he asks concerned.
"The police." I lie, when in fact it was his old gang, especially Clara, who was also leading them, but I couldn't admit that.
"Silene, I'm fine. Nothing will happen to me. I lived like this for half of my life and did so many dangerous tasks, yet here I am." He's trying to calm me.
"I know, I believe you. It just felt so real," I say shyly.
"It's okay." Juan looks at me. "I'm here. I'm not going anywhere."
He kisses me, but all I could think of is that Juan isn't going anywhere unless they'll take him from me. But, I try really hard to banish this thought out of my mind.
"Why are you agitated?" he asks concerned.
"I don't know exactly," I reply trying to avoid his look. "I'm a bit anxious about the entire thing with Rome."
"Silene, it's gonna be okay, we have everything set." Juan is gently caressing my back in an attempt to calm me. "We have all the time in the world, no one's hurrying us and you'll learn more about this."
"That's the only part that keeps me interested," I admit. "Because what scares me the most is the sea trip."
Juan almost laughs and I get him, it was really funny for someone not to be afraid of a robbery but be scared of the sea instead.

Last night it was all about planning since the departure was set for this morning and the biggest surprise was that Rodrigo will join us in this trip too.
"To spice up the relationship, babes," he exclaimed while mimicking kisses with his lips. "Also, cause you need supervising not to get caught up with too much sex and forget about the robbery."
We both rolled our eyes and tried to ignore him as much as possible, focusing our attention to the huge amount of sketches and plans that were spread on the table.
"Tomorrow morning we'll go to Valencia," Rodrigo announced in a happy voice. "Then, we'll embark on my humble boat and set sail to Italy. Sounds good for you babes?"
"Yes, it's a good idea," Juan said. "This is the best way to avoid any possible custom checkups at the borders."
Then we continued to talk about Rome and how we were going to steal a painting from one of the best guarded safes in Europe.
"You're going into the honeymoon!" Rodrigo screamed while we were getting ready to leave the room after hours of discussions about the entire plan. "I'm so happy for you!"
He was right, this was our first travel abroad after what happened in Portugal.
