JJ's POV
"Do you have everything? Summer clothes? Because it'll be warm." I was telling Emily. We had been packing for her trip to San Diego. At least 20 emails were sent back and forth between the two.Together Declan and I dropped her off at the airport before going to lunch. He had been in school and practicing on the baseball team so I haven't seen him as often. I think he is amazing but he claims he sucks at baseball.
"So what do you want to do about college?" I asked over pizza. It is the middle of his junior year so he has to start thinking sometime. He thought as he finished his bite.
"I don't know. I want to do something fun but free. But I don't want to go far away from you guys. I feel like I have a forever home now."
Stop that will make me cry. I reached over and grabbed his hand. "You do have a forever home Declan. We are going to adopt you as soon as the paperwork goes through." I let go and leaned back.
"And Emily is fully prepared to be your mom. And so am I. I know you had Chloe and your nanny and your foster mom, but I truly hope you could one day see me as a mother figure. I can't have that chance but I see you as a son." I said. And I meant it.
He smiled and we finished the our pizza and got in the car when my phone rang. It was Hotch.
"Hey kid, there is an emergency back at the office. Do you want me to drop you at home or come to hang with Penelope?" I asked. "I'll go with Aunt Pen. I like your office. It's fun. And I do." Declan said looking out the window.
He saw my confused face and continued. "I see you as my mom." I'm going to cry. Or die. Maybe die. He sees me as his mom. Literally like going to die right now.
I hid my excitement the whole ride. The elevator doors opened and I walked in with my arm around my son. Looking through the glass door I saw my old coworker.
The one from the Middle East. The one that held Erin Strauss' hand as she died. Mateo Cruz.
"Hey kid go sit in my office. I have to talk to someone and I'll meet you there when I'm done." I said quickly. I ushered him towards my office before joining Hotch and Cruz.
"What is this about?" I asked. Hotch shrugged and Cruz led me into the conference room.
"Tivon Askari has been spotted in the US."
"Is my family in danger?" It was the first thing to come to my mind. I know what he is capable of.
"You may be contacted or something worse." He said. That didn't answer my question.
"I don't give a fuck about me. Is my family in danger? I can't lose my people Mateo. There's too much at stake." I explained. I just gained a wife and a son and I can't lose them.
He explained my only option before I stormed out. I joined Declan in my office, he could tell something was wrong.
"JJ?" I think he repeated to me. It was kind of a blur.
"Mom? Are you okay?" That snapped me out of my trance. I smiled at my name and brushed it off like it was nothing.
"Yeah. Lets go home." I said. He nodded and we wandered back to our car. We spent the night watching a movie before I helped him with homework.
Emily's POV
I arrived in San Diego before going to the hotel Garcia set up. Considering it is about 10 pm I decided to go right to sleep.I woke up before getting ready for my lunch. I put on a nice blazer with matching pants. Everything kind of blurred together because I don't remember the morning.
