She laid on the ground helpless as she felt another blow to her rib.

"Do you wanna know what his last words to me were." She taunted as she got kicked again.

"He said I looked pretty good for a dead kid. Didn't I? And then he got on a plane and I never saw him again."

She managed to get on her feet as he sat frozen as to what he heard.

She used her handcuffs as leverage and got behind him. She wrapped her legs around his waist as she pulled her arms back, choking him.

"Cut the lights." Hotch said as he shot down another guy.

"I got you Ian. You will never see him again. He doesn't need your life. He is gonna live his own. He's going to be happy and you-" the lights turned off before she could finish.

He fell backwards hitting her against a table, breaking it. She scrambled to her feet. She grabbed a broken table leg and used all the strength she had left to hit his face.

It slipped from her fingers as it hit the floor. She took a breath as he grabbed it and stuck it through her abdomen.

"Goodbye Lauren." He said with a smile before running out a back door.

Emily's POV
Ow. Asshole. I heard Morgan in the next room.

"Derek." I tried yelling. It was more of a squeak. He ran in as tears fell from my eyes.

Third person POV
"No. Emily no." He ran over and kneeled next to her. He yelled for a medic as her eyes fluttered.

"Stay here kid. Emily squeeze me hand." He said as he felt a tiny squeeze. "That's it kid."

~hospital waiting room~

JJ sat hugging her legs. She had to be the one to tell her team. It wouldn't be right if a doctor did.

"Emily Prentiss family" the doctor said. JJ stood up and led her away from the waiting room.

"She will live. Nothing major was hit. She is still not awake but she will be soon. It's going to be a long recovery but she will live."

JJ's eyes filled. Her best friend was alive.

As she started walking to the waiting room Hotch pulled her aside.

"JJ. We can't tell them. He will come back for her and she won't survive next time. We need everyone to think she's dead. I've made arrangements in Paris. When she's able to travel we will send her there. You'll meet her there to give her a new identity. Jennifer no one can know. You have to tell them she died." He said.

Tears formed naturally. She had to leave her best friend. She composed herself and went back to the waiting room.

"She never made it off the table." She said with tears in her eyes.

She stood there as Spencer tried to walk away from her. "I never got to say goodbye." She pulled him into a hug and waited until he pulled away.

She sat in the waiting room as everyone left. Garcia got a ride home from Rossi, Derek drove Reid and Hotch alone.

"She's awake if you want to see her." JJ's face lit up. She followed the doctor to a room full of machines.

"Jennifer Jareau, as I live and breathe." She said with a chuckle. "Well..." JJ replied as she told her the plan.

"You can travel in a few days. I'll fly out with you to get you to get set up." JJ could see the hurt in Emily's face.

JJ stayed with Emily through the night. She watched as she fell asleep holding her hand.

The BAU bullpen was dark. It wasn't the same after Emily's scream filled the room. There were flowers on her desk from everyone in the building.

Spencer watched her desk the whole day. He wasn't able to look away from it. He couldn't help but feel useless. He sat there before heading off to her funeral.

He wanted to go to his safe place before saying goodbye to his sister.
