JIA
"Congrats Jia and Heeseung for making it to the next round! If you win the two rounds, the two of you will be able to attend the finals where every math genius in the country will be competing at." The teacher said, both handing them another reply slip. "It will be two weeks from now."
Jia grinned and bowed at the teacher. "Thank you." They were dismissed later on both sharing proud grins.
"If we win this, imagine how cool that would be?" Heeseung said and Jia nods.
The exam she took was easy, there was a part of her that was sure both she and Heeseung would make it to the next round. She knew the real challenge were the finals and if she slacked for even the slightest minute when studying, she can say goodbye to her chance of winning.
Though school had started already, Jia admitted she missed the comfort of her bed but it was back to business and she had to return to her usual routine. Now that her high school year is coming to an end, the least she could do before moving to college is leave with an even higher grade.
When lunch arrived, she made her way to the vending machine to buy coffee but on her way she saw Jay outside of the library reading the book she had given him. She was glad he finally can come back to school, she took that as a sign that his mother is getting better and better each day.
Jay raised his eyes and grinned at Jia. She approached him right after he had notice her. "So this book you bought me, do you really despise me to give me a book with such a painful story?"
"I like sharing the pain." She shrugged, with a chuckle. "It's good to see you back but now I really need coffee."
He laughed. "Let me accompany you, I need a cola." The two walked towards the vending machine which wasn't too far from the library.
She inserted some cash and pressed the coffee. Once the coffee had fell, she grabbed it from the hole and quickly opened the bottle so that she could finally drink. While her eyes continued to wander around the empty hallway, her eyes widened when she saw Sunghoon and Ahra talking.
The two seemed to be having a serious conversation. "Wonder what they're talking about."
"Whatever it is, it's none of our business." Jia said, looking away.
He laughed at what he said. "Just admit it, you also want to know."
She frowned. "Either way, it's still none of my business."
She had not spoken to Sunghoon right after what had happened during new year. Jia had nothing to tell him anyway. Only Mira knew of what happened and she desperately tried to convince Jia to tell Ahra how she truly felt for Sunghoon.
She has been thinking about it. Was it even the right time to tell her best friend that? Will the right time ever come? She walked away, sparing the two no more glances.
Time flew by once again and Jia was walking towards her car. She checked her reminders but the only thing written was to study for the math competition. She made a decision to study at the Serendipity Cafe instead of the local library.
Her head tilted when she saw Ahra standing right next to her car. Jia went closer to check if her best friend was okay. "Ahra! Are you okay?"
"Jia.." She said, before wrapping her arms around Jia. Her eyes widened when she felt tears on her shoulder. Jia didn't speak any further and soothed the girl by lightly rubbing her back. "Sunghoon... He dumped me."
