JIA
"Jia, Jia!" She jumped after hearing the loud voice of her co-worker. "Your phone has been ringing nonstop, aren't you going to answer it?"
She glanced at her phone that was ringing, she didn't realize she's been spaced out for so long. Finally looking at her phone, Ahra's caller ID was written in her screen persistently ringing her phone until she answered.
"What are you looking at your computer that got you all pale?" Juyeon asked but Jia ignored his question and answered her phone.
"Hey Ahra, what's up?" She asked, spinning her chair to the opposite direction from the computer screen.
"Have you seen the invitation?" Jia looked back at the screen where an wedding invitation was written. The two people in her office kept glancing at her screen trying to read what was written.
She chuckled and turned her screen towards their direction so they could read the invitation.
"Yeah I got it." Jia replied. "Congrats by the way, I'm happy for the two of you."
"I'd be even happier if my maid of honor goes home." Ahra said, the happiness in her tone evident.
"I'd have to check my schedule." Jia explained.
It had been 6 years since she last went home to Korea and saw her friends except for Ahra who had visited her in London last year.
"Aw really? Well I'm only letting you know that I really want you to be there at my wedding and it's completely fine if you don't make it!" Ahra said.
Jia sighed. "I'll try."
"Okay then! See you with your plus one! Love you!" Ahra said and dropped the call. She placed her phone back at her desk and closed the invitation that was sitting in her screen for a bit too long.
During the past 6 years, she learned to adapt with different kind of people. Since she was already fluent in English, her college life wasn't too hard. She took hospitality management course in order to help with her family business who owned hotels and right now, she's working with a company to earn experience.
"Isn't Ahra your best friend? Why do you seem like you don't want to attend?" Carla asked.
"Let's just say, I'm not in very good terms with the groom." Jia smiled. "Don't look at me like that, I'll tell the two of you soon."
Juyeon frowned. "Okay then, let's talk about your plus one! How about bringing your favorite co-worker?"
She snorted, looking at his puppy eyes. "What do you mean favorite co-worker? I'm her favorite co-worker!" Carla argued.
"You can't even speak Korean! How are you supposed to understand the wedding?!" Juyeon yelled.
"I'm pretty sure Jia would bring the guy that she keeps meeting, what was his name? Dean?" Carla said.
"Didn't they break up?" He said, raising an eyebrow.
Jia drew circles on her temples while listening to the two of them argue about who would Jia bring as her plus one. Truthfully speaking, she didn't actually want to bring anyone as a plus one but listening to the two of them argue who she would take resulted to Jia being torn on who to pick.
