Remus was struggling.

He tried everything he could, but he couldn't stop the constant pain in his chest and the thoughts that's swirled in his mind. Thoughts reminding him that he wasn't good enough for Dee. Rationally, he knew that Dee had a valid reason for breaking up with him. But deep down, he truly felt like if he had just been better, he could still have Dee.

After a couple days of watching his son's heartbroken state, Logan finally decided to approach him about it. Patton was out at the moment, so he figured this was the best time to approach him so as not to overwhelm him. Remus was sitting on the couch, mindlessly watching TV, when Logan decided to approach him. He sat down on the couch carefully, thinking over his next words before finally speaking. "Remus? Can I talk to you about something?" he asked in a soft voice. Remus looked at him cautiously before nodding. "I just wanted to check on you. I know that breakups can be rather difficult, and I wanted to see how you were feeling." Remus say silently for a moment, thinking over Logan's words. "I'm fine," he finally mumbled. Logan sighed, reaching over to brush back some of the boy's curls. "Now, we both know that isn't true. It's alright if you don't want to talk about it, however. That's entirely up to you," he reassured. Remus closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "I'm feeling a lot of things," he finally admitted. "Okay. What things are you feeling?" Logan urged softly. "I don't know. I'm sad, obviously. And I'm angry. Really angry. Not at Dee, but..." he trailed off. "At who, then?" Logan pressed carefully. "I guess at myself," Remus mumbled. "Why are you angry at yourself?" Logan asked, making sure it didn't sound accusatory. "Because I feel like it's my fault. I know he said it was because of a different reason, but I don't know. It feels like it's my fault. Like I wasn't good enough for him or something," Remus admitted.

Logan looked at his son sympathetically. He knew all too well what that felt like. To feel like someone leaving you was your fault. He thought through how to approach this most effectively before continuing. "Well, let's talk through this logically, yeah?" Remus looked up at him and nodded slowly. "When Dee broke up with you, what was the reason he told you?" Remus furrowed his eyebrows. "He said that...something had happened to him before and that seeing me after the incident was too hard for him," Remus explained softly. Logan nodded thoughtfully. "And have you done anything at all to mistreat him or purposely hurt him?" Logan asked. Remus looked up quickly. "No, of course not!" he responded quickly. Logan smiled softly. "Then it seems to me that Dee did what he did because of something in his personal life. Nothing to do with you or your actions," Logan explained. Remus shook his head. "But it is my fault. If I wouldn't have provoked those guys at school then they wouldn't have p-put me in that locker and-" Remus rambled, his speech quickening as he went. "Now, none of that. Look at me, Remus," Logan said sternly. Remus looked up at him with wide teary eyes. At the sight of his son's expression, Logan's face softened. He placed his hand softly on the boy's shoulder before continuing. "What happened with the locker was not your fault. What they did to you was horrible, and it was completely their own doing. You didn't cause that to happen, and you didn't cause Dee to break up with you. It's not your fault."

Remus let out a small hiccup before tears began falling down his cheeks. He leaned against Logan, hugging him softly. Logan immediately hugged him back, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead. "It's okay. I've got you," Logan whispered. After a few minutes, Remus' tears subsided, leaving him feeling drained. He stayed leaning against his Papa as he wiped his face softly. "You're right," Remus finally whispered. "What?" Logan asked in slight shock. It was very rare that Remus realized the falseness of his thoughts. "You're right. It wasn't my fault," Remus continued, making Logan immeasurably proud.

The door soon swung open, Patton's expression softening at the sight of his two boys. "Hey guys," Patton said, catching the others' attention. His eyebrows furrowed when he noticed the test tracks down Remus' face. "What's going on?" Patton asked as he walked over to them. Remus sat up, wiping his face once more. "Nothing," Remus responded. "Nothing?" Patton asked with a raised eyebrow. Remus smirked softly. "Nothing at all." Taking notice of Remus' small smile, Patton decided to play up the dramatics. "Since when do you keep secrets from your old man?" he asked, his lighthearted tone and soft smile giving him away. Remus giggled slightly, warming both Logan and Patton's hearts. "Well, since you both seem preoccupied with your little secret, I'll just have to eat this Chinese food I brought home by myself," Patton teased before walking toward the kitchen with a smirk on his face. Remus and Logan immediately jumped up, running after the man.

"Now, wait a minute. Let's be reasonable about this," Logan said desperately, playing along with Patton's act. Patton hummed softly. "Well, maybe you can have some. But it's gonna cost ya," Patton said with a wide grin. "Oh god, what is it?" Logan asked dramatically. Patton's smile widened before puckering his lips. Logan rolled his eyes fondly before kissing Patton lightly. "There, now can I eat?" Logan asked. Patton laughed in awe. "Yeah, yeah go ahead. I'm so glad that my loving husband chose food over me," Patton complained jokingly. Remus laughed loudly, catching Patton's attention. "Now, don't think you're getting the food without a cost," Patton grinned. Remus looked at him in confusion before Patton tapped his cheek. Remus snorted before walking over and kissing his dad on the cheek, immediately going to grab his food.

"My loving family," Patton said sarcastically, earning a chuckle from both of his boys.
