"Deep breathes, bud," Patton said softly as he walked hand in hand with his son. Remus took a few breaths, calming his panic slightly. "I'm okay," Remus responded. "Do you want to talk about it?" Patton asked. Remus nodded slightly. "I just saw the alcohol and freaked out. My birth parents were almost always drunk. It just reminded me of them and scared me," Remus explained. "I understand." "And I know that Logan wouldn't hurt me. I just got scared," Remus continued. "I'm glad to hear that you're not scared of Logan. Neither of us would ever hurt you," Patton replied. "I know." The pair continued walking for a few minutes in silence before Remus spoke up again. "I think I'm ready to go back." Patton nodded as he lead the boy back to the house. When they entered through the front door, Logan was immediately on his feet. "Remus, I'm so sorry," he rushed out. "It's okay. I'm alright now." Remus responded. He couldn't stand to see the man's saddened expression, so Remus wrapped his arms around the man tightly. "I'm not scared of you. I know you wouldn't hurt me," Remus whispered. "I'm so relieved to hear that," Logan admitted as he held the boy tightly. "The alcohol just freaked me out a little bit," Remus explained as he pulled back from the hug. "I'm so sorry, Remus. I wouldn't have brought out the wine if I'd known," Natalie said as she approached the boy. Remus gave her a small smile. "It's okay. It's not your fault." Natalie nodded. "You two managed to find the sweetest kid, you know that?" Natalie said to Logan and Patton. "Don't we know it," Patton responded with a fond look toward the boy. Remus flushed slightly from the praise.

"Lunch should be ready pretty soon. Do you want to help me set the table, Remus?" Jaime asked kindly. "Sure," Remus responded, following the man into the kitchen. Jaime pulled five plates out of the cabinet, handing them to the boy. "Can you go set these on the table?" he asked kindly. Remus nodded, taking the plates over to the table and setting one in front of every seat. Jaime hummed lightly as he grabbed a fork and knife for every person, placing them on the table. "Thanks for the help, kiddo," Jaime smiled. Remus giggled slightly. "You sound like Patton." Jaime smirked. "When they said 'you marry your father', they really weren't kidding, huh?" Remus snorted. "You're very right about that," Remus said through soft giggles. A timer dinged, signaling that the food was ready. "Could you go grab the others while I take the food out?" Jaime asked, turning toward the oven. "Sure," Remus replied as he walked out of the kitchen and into the living room. Natalie looked up at the boy when he entered the room, smiling widely. "So, Remus, your dads here mentioned that you're a singer," she said through her grin. Remus blushed slightly. "Yeah, I sing," he muttered. "Can we hear a bit after we eat?" she urged. "Um, sure," he replied sheepishly. Natalie let out a soft cheer, causing Remus to giggle. "I take it the food is ready?" Logan asked through his smirk. Remus nodded quickly in response. The three adults stood from their spots and made their way into the kitchen, Remus following behind. Jaime set the pan filled with casserole onto the table as the remaining four took their seats, Remus sitting between his parents. "It smells amazing, babe," Natalie smiled at her husband. He grinned sheepishly as he took his seat. "Dig in," Jaime said after a moment. The adults passed the dish around, taking their portions of the food. When Remus was handed the dish, he froze for a moment. Don't be greedy. Logan seemed to take notice of his discomfort, leaning in to whisper in his ear softly. "Take as much as you want," he said softly, easing the boy's panic. Remus scooped a decently sized portion on his plate before setting the dish in the middle of the table. The five at the meal in near silence. However, this silence wasn't uncomfortable like it had been the night prior. This silence was calm and natural, everyone enjoying the food and each other's company. When they had all finished, Natalie stood and picked up all of their dirty plates, setting them in the sink. "Now," she smirked as she turned around. "I believe someone is supposed to sing for us," she grinned as her eyes locked on Remus. Remus' cheeks tinted pink but he nodded nonetheless. "Let me go grab my guitar. Do you play?" Natalie asked as she walked across the kitchen. "Yes," Remus replied, prompting Natalie's grin to widen. "Perfect. I'll be back." Once Natalie was gone from the room, the remaining four stood from their seats and made their way into the living room, lounging on the couches as they waited for Natalie to return. Patton and Logan sat on one end of the couch, Logan's arm around Patton's shoulder while Remus sat next to them, his legs crossed on the cushion. Jaime sat on the opposite couch, leaving room for his wife.

When she did, she had a beautiful brown guitar in her hand. "Here you go, kid," she said as she handed the guitar to Remus before sitting on the couch next to her husband. "Um, what do you want me to play?" Remus asked, his shyness showing through. "Anything you want, bud," Patton smiled softly at him. "I actually...well, maybe not. It's dumb," Remus stuttered out. "What is it, darling?" Logan asked kindly. "I wrote a song after you said that you wanted to adopt me," Remus admitted, his gaze on the floor. "Really?" Logan asked as a soft smile spread across his face. Remus looked up at him and mirrored his expression. "Yeah." "Oh my goodness, I can't wait to hear it," Patton beamed at the boy. Remus sat up straighter as he positioned the guitar in his lap. "It's called 'On the Borderline'," Remus said softly, looking up at his parents for a moment before playing the first chord.

Remus lost himself in the music. The raw emotion that he'd had when he'd written the song was resurfacing as he sang the lyrics, slight tears filling his eyes as he relived all of the feelings he experienced upon being told he was going to have a family. When he played the final chord, Remus closed his eyes for a moment, taking in a shaking breath. He opened his eyes a few seconds later, looking up at his dads. He hadn't expected both of them to have silent tears streaming down their cheeks. "That was beautiful, bud," Patton whispered. Remus smiled softly at the pair. "That was so freaking good," Natalie said in awe. Remus chuckled lightly. "Thanks." "Seriously, that was incredible," Jaime added, causing Remus to flush from all the praise. Logan wiped at his eyes as he chuckled under his breath. "Only you and Patton can make me cry this easily," he said as he shook his head. "Come on, let's give them a moment," Jaime said softly as he pulled Natalie up and into their bedroom.

Remus moved across the couch, wrapping his arms around his parents, warming their hearts with the action. "I love you guys," Remus said quietly. "We love you too, Re. So, so much," Patton replied before kissing the boy's forehead softly. "I have a question about your song, Remus," Logan said in a soft voice. "What is it?" Remus asked, looking up into his Papa's eyes. "In the song, you said they you were petrified. Are you still frightened about the change?" Logan asked, a hint of insecurity and worry showing through in his tone. Remus chuckled lightly.

"Not at all. You two make me feel safer and more loved than Ive ever felt in my life."
