The said uniform arrived on Sunday. I sent it straight back to Mephisto's office. He'd best work on week-ends.

"Find your way through a giant academy" for dummies, beginner level, was the Headmaster's office. Even I managed to follow the pink, ginormous signs pointing to Mephisto's whereabouts. When I knocked on his door, I was so proud of locating it, that I almost forgot why I had come in the first place. I hesitated for a second ; was it a smart decision to burst into a powerful demon's office in an angry mood ?

Don't ask me why I thought it was.

When he finally opened the door, invited me to come in, his farcical outfit left me speechless. I simply pointed at him, and uttered some dumbstruck words I immediately regretted.

- You... you wear... that... at work.

- Why of course ! Is that the reason of your visit, though ?

I looked up at him, and regained my composure.

- No, it's not.

I pulled out the pink and purple uniform from my handbag and threw it at him, somewhat less aggressively than I had expected. The clothes fell to the floor, and Mephisto stared at them in confusion.

- That's the school uniform, he commented, raising an eyebrow.

- I won't — I mean, with all due respect, I cannot wear it.

I tried to correct my words, but my tone sounded a little too sarcastic.

- "With all due respect" ? Mephisto repeated, picking up the uniform.

He held it in his hands, and it suddenly disappeared, only to appear again on his desk, neatly folded.

- Did you hear the rest of the sentence, or do I have to say it again ? I enquired.

- Oh, yes. But I do remember you calling me crazy and scary... he smirked.

- Playing that card ? I smirked back.

Letting myself be pushed around was out of question. He seemed to understand, and took on a serious air again.

- What is wrong with the uniform ? he calmly asked.

- Give me a minute, I'll write you a list, I jeered at him.

He raised his eyebrows even higher.

- I'm sorry, I added humbly. I think they call it the 21st century... when women walk around in trousers ?

   He sighed.

- And besides, how can I hide my tail under... well, that ?

I pointed at the skirt on his desk.

- Oh, drat. You are the only female demon here. I'm afraid I forgot.

- Yeah sure, because only demons can escape patriarchy.

He looked really confused. I appeared to be the first one to raise this point.

- Seriously, I sighed. Lenghthen the damn thing. For everyone. Or better yet : change it to trousers !

I may have raised my voice a little too high on the last part.

- I'm sorry. I need to calm down.

- Yes, I think you do.

- Anyway, I'm not wearing this tomorrow. Deal with it. Have a nice day, Mr. Faust.

I turned around and left the office, not even a bit worried about the consequences. He would never expell me ; I knew it from the way he looked at me. But even so, I refused to let him treat me, or all girls for that matter, in such a way. Not until I entered my dorm and slammed the door shut did I realise I had called him by another name.
