I looked up at Mephisto. For the first time of my demonic life, I felt scared. Frightened.

At the same time, I was angry. Mad. Lucifer would not win. I would not let him.

Mephisto stood up, dazed. None of us had seen it coming. I glanced back at him, a bit anxious. I could not crush the enemy without putting everyone at risk. I suddenly hated myself for never having learnt to control it. My power. The strength I was born with, and that I had always disdained. I knew then that its form was hardly important ; only power mattered.

   And I was weak.

Lucifer did not let me think. He ran to me, completely ignoring Mephisto who tried to intervene. I knew I would not be able to avoid his attacks for long ; yet, I could not hit back. If only Mephisto had listened to me, we would not be there. I needed more time.

In a second, everything changed around me. The orange street disappeared, replaced by emptiness. I turned around, troubled, and back around. Around again. I could not see anything ; I was turning dizzy. Both demons had vanished. I felt something moving behind me ; I turned my head, and was hit by something. I lost my balance, fell, cursed, stood up.

- You really thought I would let myself be pushed around ?

That was Lucifer's voice, yet I could not see him.

- I control Light, remember ?

All of a sudden, I knew what was happening. I was done for.

- You changed the setting, didn't you ? I whispered, looking around, now dreadfully aware I would find nothing. That's why I can't see anything.

- You're observant. And right. No light is reaching you anymore.

- But you'll get tired.

I tried to make him doubt.

- Your body is weak. This is more power than you can afford. In a few minutes, everything will be back to normal.

- In a few minutes, you will be dead.
